Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

New ZealandBit of a walk to Subway.
Huge room! Felt like a home more than a hotel room. I think we were fortunate with our room as larger than others.

United States of AmericaThis hotel is amazing! The rooms are huge and decorated with tasteful furniture and art. It’s like staying in someone’s home and not all like a hotel Room. The staff, however, was not friendly at all! We weren’t even greeted when we checked in or out and I never saw a smile. It’s too bad cause the hotel is awesome
Everything!

United States of AmericaOne issue…. In the boys room (adults. Late 20s) one found a cockroach. Room 48. Bottom level. Freaked him out due to a past horrendous issue with unkempt old roommates and he’s now thinking he’s going to have to throw out all him clothes and bag. BIG problem. I’ll be calling to let you know tomorrow.
It’s unique and comfortable. We had 2 rooms for our family.

Czech RepublicFrom other hotels I am used to perfect cleanliness, here I see room for improvement.
The Box House hotel pleasantly surprised me. The biggest advantages are the absolutely ideal location and reasonable price. The hotel has a cozy atmosphere, provides great amenities, the service is friendly, the rooms are standard, housekeeping works daily and the breakfasts are excellent! I will use this hotel again on my next visit to NYC.

RomaniaI used the washing machine downstairs which didn’t drain properly so the clothes were dripping wet and quite stinky when I moved them to the drier.
Room was spacious, with a comfortable bed, a lot of storage space. The bathroom was beautiful, clean, everything worked perfectly. Very happy with the room at The Box House Hotel. Staff was super friendly and helpful, they answered all of my questions. Breakfast was delicious as well!

New ZealandIt is very noisy. We had the first 2 nights where the next door room had music on until 4 am. Some nights have functions and that’s a bit noisy too, however the staff did address the noisy neighbour. And we live in a very quiet area so not used to city noise. The breakfast is probably not worth doing.
Lots of room, sofa bed comfortable. Great proximity to the subway and one stop to grand central station. Greenpoint has great restaurants and close to Williamsburg too.

United States of AmericaI know there is an option to purchase a full breakfast as part of the hotel rate, but it would be nice if there was a simple complimentary continental breakfast included in the nightly rate.
Room was a very large sunny queen with balcony. Very comfortable and pretty quiet, even though it faced the street. This is my third stay here, and the staff are always very friendly and helpful. It is a great location for those visiting family or friends in Greenpoint. Also, easy walk to the ferry.

United States of AmericaBeware on the weekends -- they have a popular wedding venue on the 5th floor rooftop. We had to listen to pounding dance music until 11:30-midnight both Friday and Saturday in our room on the 3rd floor. Next time we'll ask for a room on the 1st or 2nd floor and hopefully it won't be as bad.
Great location in a great part of the city, spacious room, comfortable bed.

United States of AmericaWe paid rather a lot for a room with a terrace. But the terrace was 50 feet from the gridwork of Pulaski Bridge, not a desierable view. Very urban NYC 'view'. Our room had no towels in it when we arrived - an oversight by housekeeping, was soon correcred. The front desk person offered us breakfast on the house for Sunday morning. But by Sunday morning it turned out that the restaurant was mostly closed for a private event, it had been open for breakfast only 8-9am.
The hotel and the room were nice, clean, comfortable, good location for visiting my daughter.

United States of AmericaThe price. I understand that this hotel is in Brooklyn but nightly cost is too high for a Courtyard quality room. Also we did not receive any complementary breakfasts.
Room is large and bathroom is very nice. Location is ideal for the north side of Brooklyn.

United States of AmericaThe location was a bit removed from the main shopping/dining area, but I felt safe walking the 10-15 minutes needed.
The room was sizeable, nicely decorated and had a balcony with a small table and chairs. The common spaces in the hotel were inviting.

Location was great for our needs 1. Subway stop not far away 2. Visiting friends nearby. Felt very safe walking in the area around hotel..even w/ walking at night ( This Greenpoint neighborhod is more North Brooklyn & seems to be a more quiet residential area than south Brooklyn toward Brooklyn Bridge) 2. 3.
