Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaCorporate Marriott DESTROYED the most iconic inn in NC. The Carolina Inn was charming. Gorgeous carpets that had state motifs, beautiful curtains, elegant tasteful traditional decor. Orchids. Ginger jars. Persian rugs. Antiques. Now it is hideous, mismatched ( the blankets and curtains have teal rather than Carolina blue) IKEA furniture hideous headboards rather than four poster beds and armoires. It’s just devastating and no longer worth the cost. I stayed there because of the decor and ambience. Now it’s a hideous, tacky, mismatched low end Hampton inn. Just incredible someone let this disaster happen. It’s like the bud light debacle with their advertising. The decor was the charm. Now it’s just a mess that costs too much.
Location and historical relationship with the inn

BoliviaReceptionists were aloof and not very serviceable. Our room was dirty - our beds were not properly made and we found a dirty box filled with used hotel bathroom amenities along a hair clipper and a marble at the room. The hotel room where we stayed looked nothing like the pictures from its site. They gave us a complementary "upgrade" with a room with two queen beds - I traveled with my girlfriend and only had need of one bed. Finally, for a price per night of more than $400, breakfast was not included.
As a UNC Alumnus, I've always wanted to stay a night at the Carolina Inn. As a business major, I participated in many networking events at the Carolina Inn and always loved its proximity and convenience to the campus. The grounds remained as beautiful as I remembered them, but the hotel guest management and service left much to be desired.

United States of AmericaUnfortunately, what used to be a classic beautiful hotel with Southern charm, has fallen to a “modern upgrade.” it doesn’t fit the classic feel or vibe of the hotel at all. They pretty much sapped all of the charm out of it, making it, yet another cookie cutter hotel. Thanks Hyatt!
We have stayed at the Carolina in four years and it was always one of our favorite places. It is still, obviously in a great location for anything to do with UNC.

United States of AmericaI don't like the a la carte for everything, parking, coffee, water and the little touches that go with an upscale Inn. the rooms are small and the walls are very thin. The bathroom was very small and tight, albeit beautiful.
The Hotel is a beautiful historic hotel reminiscent of a true southern classic. The Hotel location was perfect for visiting UNC. The staff is very polite and very professional I had no problem getting a simple request answered

United States of AmericaAlways have a spoon with your set-up as I had to ask 3 x and my food got cold and I my tea got cold waiting to add my honey. The portions were small; the omelette was very bland and no presentation for a hotel if this caliber. You should learn from the Duke Mansion.
The tea and the grits.
