Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaHonestly, the staff could be more welcoming, we chose this spot considering the past reviews raving about the staff but from our experience except for the cafe, the people weren't that welcoming/friendly esp the front desk. My friends ordered a bouquet to be placed in my room but arrived to an empty room without the flowers. The staff confirmed that the bouquet will be pre-packed in the room but was not actioned. I then received a text the next day saying I had a package and it was the flowers already wilted when my sister instructed to unbox and display, it was all a little disappointing.
Overall great location, the pool was the best part along with the cafe and lunch spaces. The hotel was mostly clean, and the rooms were mostly clean. Food and drinks were good!

South AfricaI felt that the room service menu could have included a greater variety of options. Other than that, I was very happy with the whole experience.
I enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel and the surrounding area. I liked that the location was close to nature but also close to the city and I felt very safe in my hotel room.

United States of AmericaThe pool was nice, but frigid, in April. I don't know if it's unheated or just not turned on, I didn't ask. My room was missing a few of the room service request indicators (magnets to put on the door). I wish the restaurant had opened a little earlier or closed later - never got to try it, and it seems like it would be a cool place to hang out late into the evening. Room prices are a bit high in my opinion, and the additional charge for parking was a bit unexpected, given that the hotel has a dedicated garage.
Very hip design-focused hotel with lots of nice "bonuses" like a powerful bluetooth speaker in the room, plenty of shelves, racks and hooks, stocked mini-bar, free bike rental, cafe on site, etc. I appreciated the communication via text message (like a normal person...) and the flexibility on check-in time and some other adjustments I had to make to my reservation. Awesome location for driving to Austin-area sights, though it is a bit of a hike to downtown (Uber/Lyft is cheap here, and it's an easy pick-up/drop-off spot).

United States of AmericaThe bed wasn’t comfortable nor was it uncomfortable. It was right in between. For the price of the stay, I’d expect a more cozy bed. The pillows left a lot to be desired too. I know this is subjective so I’ll try to explain: The bed was firm (not too firm) but didn’t have a cozy/comfortable feel to it and the pillows had no substance to them. They were very flat and lifeless. I had to ball one up to try to create a decent amount of fluff under my head. My room was above a dog boarding facility and my neighbors barked a lot but They were quiet at night.
I loved the hotel layout, open air hallways, coffee shop and lounge/work areas. It was clean, beautiful and serene. The location was perfect. The pool relaxing. The tile in the bathroom was clean and beautiful. I liked having a balcony.

United States of AmericaWe booked the hotel during a busy time so the price was quite high. I love the hotel so much I booked it anyway.
This is my second stay at the Carpenter Hotel and even though it was more expensive than other properties, I chose to stay here again because the staff is awesome, the coffee shop/bar is excellent, the design if unusual, clean and appealing and the neighborhood is perfect for staying in a quiet part of town that is a short and beautiful 15 minute walk over or along the river to restaurants, coffee shops and shopping. I will be back!

United States of AmericaThe bed was not the most comfortable. Not bad, but not luxurious like a hotel bed can be.
The service at the Carpenter was fantastic, especially Manny at the front desk and Zach in the restaurant. The buildings were beautiful and well maintained. The food in the restaurant and cafe were every good if a bit pricy. It was easy to work from the outdoor patio and cafe.

United States of AmericaIt was expensive and parking wasn’t included, but that’s to be expected from such a unique place in the area.
The whole property was part of the overall aesthetic—mod and hip meets vintage building. So many cool little touches everywhere we looked. Like a retreat from the city in the city.

United States of America1) no water bottles in the entire hotel for free or for purchase. Nothing. There was filtered water dispensed at the front but it was frequently empty and difficult to fill an entire water bottle with. They have a mini bar for purchase in the room but no water bottles in there. 2) The beds are kind of hard. Everyone that we were traveling with agreed. Several woke up with some shoulder pain. Even a pillow top cover would serve them well.
Beautiful design of the hotel and thoughtful amenities. 1) They don't have a gym but they gave me free passes to go to an amazing gym down the street (Capital Hill Fitness 8mins by car) which was far better than a standard gym. 2) The restaurant is amazing here. One of our favorites in Austin. The coffee shop is also wonderful. 3) Very cute gift shop at the front and the front desk workers are so helpful and kind. 4) the environment is very calming and aesthetically pleasing.
