To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

United States of AmericaIf you have mobility issues, the lack of a railing at the entrance is a serious problem, and there is no elevator. The HVAC needs some more insulation. It’s quite noisy. Please provide a dish rack. Finding parking is not easy but the lot on Asaph worked for us. However, deciphering the overnight cost was beyond even the cops!
The location was excellent. The apartment was clean and functional.

Switzerlandthe description didn’t explicitly specify that the suite was on the 3rd floor (2nd level) , with no elevator in the building. it was fine except for checkin and checkout when we had to lug the suitcases up and down the stairs. we didn’t mind the stairs in between , but others may find it challenging. it would be best to make this more explicit upon booking (we only learned it was on 3rd floor when we received the door code few days before check in but no indication that there wasn’t an elevator). also, the choice of fridge in the suite could have been better (ie quieter version) as it was quite noisy esp at night. there was no information in the room about how to access the laundry area/washing machine
It was really comfortable staying here. very clean, comfortable bed, great location (but everyone should expect city traffic on weekdays esp mornings and occasional sirens) , easy self check in, there is always available parking in street after 5-6 pm and free overnight street parking until 8 am. tasteful decor (however I would have preferred having heavier curtains or some shades to keep the 6 am morning light out)

United States of AmericaThe check in was a little funny. There is no reception here--you are given a PIN to get in the inn and your room. I was never sent an email or text highlighting the PIN, so confused it with the booking.com PIN, which, of course, did not work. I called the inn but it was about half an hour until I got through to the host. It turns out that the PIN was buried in some email I received when I booked--with a ton of other info. I only stumbled on it later when I was looking up some other things. A text with the PIN on the day of check in would have been helpful. It would be nice to get a few more basic provisions in the kitchen. A little more coffee, tea. I think we got three coffees for two days.
The room was beautiful and as shown on booking.com. The location in Old Alexandria was excellent.

ItalyThe room was definitely missing a wardrobe or in any case a place to put up coats and jackets and dresses - for business travel it was a little inconvenient but the place was lovely.
Very cosy, comfortable and clean,close to all the shops!
