Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaCheck-in was quick and easy. We expected a small, cramped room but the room and bathroom were huge with plenty of storage. Breakfast was mostly grab and go foods like bagels and muffins, just enough to jump-start the day. We had dinner at Penzo's Pizza which is located at the Inn. The pizza, shrimp and breadsticks were very good as were the drinks. It was a quiet atmosphere which was perfect after our long drive. We will definitely stay here for our next trip to Montpelier.

United States of AmericaIt's certainly no fault of the inn that they suffered a catastrophic flood in July of 2023, which flooded their basement and destroyed various systems. As such, the only heat in the room was provided by a space heater, which was actually MORE than adequate. The inn's porch was still under reconstruction and the facility is still not operating at full capacity.
It was very quiet as it caters to adults, for the most part. The location is excellent. It was very easy to get to the interstate and local roadways as well. It was very clean and very comfortable. The continental breakfast was just enough to start the day. The room was exactly what a country inn should room should be, not lacking in any way.

United States of AmericaThe heat in the rooms. Our room was 82 degrees when we arrived. It was very warm. We slept with one of the windows opened and used an oscillating fan we found in the closet. All things considered we would stay here again.
Old New England inn. No pretense.

United States of AmericaThe signal of the internet wasn't strong but it really didn't hinder our stay.
We stayed at the inn during a layover on our way from Montreal to Springfield, MA. Montpelier was the halfway point and we’d never visited the town before so we thought it would be a fun day trip. Embracing the quaintness of the New England town, we chose to stay at a bed and breakfast. Also the location was only a 10 minute walk from the Greyhound bus stop. The room was really cute and even had a desk so there was an extra place to set your things. There was a closet which was huge and provided an area to put our bags so they were out of the way. We also went down the hall to sit in the lounge and just hang out. Everything you need for a relaxing stay. The staff at the inn really helped us out. We had sent a message to see if we could leave our bags in the office since we’d be arriving early but they made sure our room was ready ahead of time so we could just check in upon arrival. We decided to have an easy dinner so we ate at the in-house restaurant. The food was great and we were able to sit outside on the large old-school porch, enjoying the garden and sunset. Breakfast was good, too, and we could have a bite before we needed to head over to the train station. For any people that are staying here without a car, we do have a story. According to the apps Uber and Lyft both operate there but when it was time to catch our train, there were no drivers to be found. Also there’s a local taxi company whose automated system said they would be there “shortly”, but they never showed up. This brings us back to the staff at the Inn. We went back in, kind of frantic, as the time was ticking away and asked if anyone could bring us over to the station. The same lady that had checked us in early, made her car available to one of the waiters at the restaurant and we were on our way. We got there with a few minutes to spare and the day was saved! Thanks so much to everyone at the Inn at Montpelier for helping us enjoy our time there. We really appreciate all of you!

ItalyI cannot comment on breakfast because I was out of the Inn each day before it started. I took Amtrak's Vermonter to Montpelier. There is no easy or affordable way to get from the Amtrak station to the Inn. Uber and Lyft do not operate in that area. Car services all come from Burlington and cost more than $100. I ended up walking 45 minutes to get to the Inn. Half of the walk is treacherous because you are walking on a narrow shoulder of a state route road.
The bed was super comfortable. In addition to the space in the room, there was plenty of common area space in which to unwind and relax. The Inn was very peaceful and quiet.

United States of AmericaThere was renovation going on when we arrived which initially caused us concern but by the time we returned from dinner and visiting the capital, things were ok. Renovations appear to be a good upgrade.
Continental breakfast had good choices. Location was good as within walking distance to capital and good tap room/restaurant (which also was very good).

United States of AmericaThere isn't much parking available onsite, but I was able to find a spot each time I returned from an outing. The door to my room was a bit tricky to open as it was "sticky" and the key was hard to turn, but this is a country inn with character, and not a hotel chain. These are really minor issues.
The location was perfect. While I didn't take advantage of onsite dining, I enjoyed the inn very much. The room was very nice, the bed was comfortable, and the heating worked, which was especially important because of sub-zero overnight temperatures!
