Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaOld Town just smells like a urine factory. Rooms are really small with not chair dresser or rack for clothes. Bed sits high so a pain to put your shoes on.
Clean and comfortable bed. Shared bathroom room and shower area clean available.

United States of AmericaHotel & parking felt very secure, but the surrounding neighborhood is definitely rough. Bummer to see downtown/old town so empty.
Breakfast/coffee were really great. All staff were nice and very helpful….both in person and on the phone before we arrived. Really appreciated the secure, reasonably priced parking. And the rooftop patio is awesome even on a drizzly day. Perfect spot to stay when seeing a concert at Roseland Theater.

Awesome location in downtown. Room was fantastic with a high ceiling and very clean. The rooftop was a great place to hang and the staff was very friendly upon arrival. Many reviews complained about the presence of people experiencing homelessness near the hotel - if this is a problem for you, maybe Portland isn't the city for you.

New ZealandNot a criticism as the hotel can't change its external environment and the hotel security system used is excellent, however there was a street seediness nearby. This did not impact me as I am used to such situations.
The fitout of an older building was very well done. The room was comfortable and clean. The shared facilities were very clean and protocolsexcellent. The reception desk was very friendly and the meal I bought tasty.

United States of AmericaGranted, it was warm for Portland, I was chilled the duration of my stay. Blankets and space heaters are available, but it was simply too cold for me.
A neat spin on what is essentially a hostel. Despite being in a part of town that has a heavy homeless population, I felt safe and well taken care of. Clean, simple private room + bath with a focus on sustainability. Comfortable cafe/common space + cozy rooftop lounge - no drunken, noisy guests. You wouldn't know it was a hostel unless you stayed in a bunk room!

The friendly personable front desk people. They also had a security person meet me at the Tram stop and walk me back to the hotel which was nice.

United States of AmericaThe room was very small and not especially comfortable. There was a shared bathroom in the hall, and I chose not to use the shower.
The lobby area was very attractive and the staff were all very nice. It was easy walking distance to restaurants nearby.

United States of AmericaThe hotel only offers the hostel rooms to out of town guests which I am. I moved to Alaska for work. At the time I did not have the requested documentation. The hotel did stll honore my reservation. It may be some time before I stay with them again.
The hotel offers hostel style rooms. Very clean. Quite comfortable. And not crowded.

PortugalThe area is beautiful, although very run down, with many homeless people visibly experiencing mental issues. It doesnt feel like the safest place. Also the storage units in the bedroom dont fully close even when locked, leaving a gap wide enough for items to be removed from the inside. Nothing happened, but this is definitely something that should be addressed.
The place is very clean and the staff is very friendly.

FranceI wish there was a spot to hang out that isn’t our bed our in the middle of the lobby if we wanted to watch a movie or something. Again this isn’t a bad thing and just a personal preference! The lobby had a coffee shop which was great in the morning!
The room and shared bathroom were really clean, and the room itself was very comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful when we ended up having to cancel our stay at another hotel for the following day and having to stay at the society hotel an extra night due to the ice storm that hit Portland during our stay. Despite the weather and everything being closed we still walked around and the hotel is ideally situated. We also payed extra for parking and it was so worth it - our rental was safe in a private building parking lot and wasn’t in the storm.

United States of AmericaThe neighborhood has vagrants roaming around without purpose and setting up tents on the sidewalk.
The check-in process was easy. The place was clean and quiet. The place had lockers, but bring your own lock. The bed was comfortable with a down comforter. It had a common kitchen with a refrigerator that was kept clean. The bathrooms had hot showers and shampoo included, so I was happy with the overall experience. They let you store your luggage after you check out. It is two blocks from the light rail station.

United States of AmericaI didn't realize there was no bathroom in the room! It was not clear in the description. So I had to walk down the hall to use the bathroom, or to take a shower. Also, there were very few surfaces in the room - almost none, no shelves or tables, so I had to put my stuff on the floor. Also, I realized that this hotel was cheaper than average, also because of the location - there is a large homeless population living in the neighborhood, so I didn't feel very safe walking alone in the evening, and ended up taking an Uber every night.
A small cafe downstairs is very cute, although a little pricey. Very convenient to eat there or to work on my laptop.
