Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty

- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

There were holes in the door.
The tub worked. It was quiet. We arranged a canyon tour through Thunderbird Lodge and it went well.

Maybe a bit more selection for vegetarians at the cafe. Not a deal breaker
We like the independent motel/hotels. The room was clean and the staff very friendly. Would definitely stay here again

Staff at reception was not very friendly, though they helped us when needed
Basic, pretty old accommodation, but the price is right, location in Canyon de Chelly which is great! Best place in Chinle!

The air conditioner could have been quieter.
Could not be better located for visiting Canyon de Chelly. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the tour of the canyon that starts from the property is very good.

Location was wonderful. For an older lodge the room was very modern and clearly updated. Clean and waking to the sound of nature fantastic.

Two holes in the room's door...daylight shining in. No extra roll TP, and only 1/4 of roll on holder. They did bring us an extra roll, which we needed. Very loud air conditioner.
Convenient location to the national park. Beds were comfortable. Room was old and needs remodel, but was clean.

The cafeteria closes early and has very limited selection. They also ran out of several items.
Very well maintained facilities. Location is excellent. We would stay there again.

Really enjoyed it there. Some mild “sewer” odor from bathroom sink but not a problem

The fridge made a noise that was a little bit annoying to sleep.
It was very close to the chelly canyon, the environment was nice and the room was fine.

Could have been the time of year (April), but no 'fresh' (veggie or fruit) food items to be had for breakfast, but big fridges in rooms, so workarounds possible!
Nice rooms, comfortable beds, good shower/bathtub. Liked the setting/layout with shaded sitting areas, trees and grass. Lovely native traditional shop - wish we would have had more time to spend and learn more. Great blue corn frybread!

You will notice a heavy duty plunger next to your toilet, so beware - small turds, big turds, all sizes of turds will likely get stuck (as we found out). No biggie for me, but hubby had to deal with that.
What an amazing place, with birds chirping away all day long. You get a nice size room with small porch with chairs/table right in front. Ample parking. Seriously amazingly clean and comfortable beds - we had such a good night's sleep!! Microwave and fridge in the room were great since breakfast was not included.

Bathroom was small.
The hotel is clean, comfortable and located in Canyon de Chelly. There is a cafeteria on the property and the food is decent. Complimentary coffee and tea in the lobby. Trading Post has all kinds of Navajo art including woven blankets. I highly recommend taking their tour into the canyon. Reasonably priced, and a fun and informative way to see the ruins. Our guide, Harold was very knowledgeable, he also shared stories from his childhood in the canyon. The ride in the Pinzgauer vehicle was rough at times, so may not be right for everyone.

The bathroom was very tiny and hard to maneuver in.

Lovely, quiet location in close proximity to Canyon de Chelly. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet. We slept well. The young lady working at the tour desk was helpful and took time to explain everything to us, and answer our questions. The internet connection was good. We ate twice at the hotel's cafeteria, once for breakfast and once for dinner. The meals were fine, but it was somewhat disorganized going through the food line and getting our meals. We enjoyed trying Navajo tacos that were tasty. It was a very nice experience to stay on the reservation, and to meet locals who were all very nice and professional. We would stay here again.
