To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

United States of AmericaThat the clerk had told us that the air conditioning was controlled by the thermostat on the wall and not actually on the air conditioner itself. It would have been nice for the clerk or someone to have walked with us through the room and answered any questions we had.
I really like the cleanliness of the room and the layout of furniture. Very comfortable and had more options than expected.

United States of America1. Bedbugs in my two bedroom unit. Room number 328. 2. Front desk personnel were rarely at the desk. My door dash delivery person had to call me to come downstairs because nobody was at the desk to let him in. I went to the desk to report Bedbugs and clothing found in my unit and again, the front desk was vacant for the 10 minutes I stood there. 3. A pair of men’s underwear on the floor beside the bed. Housekeeping obviously not cleaning very well. 4. Also the baseboard has clearly come apart from the wall in the larger bedroom. 5. A dog barking on the 3rd floor. I thought people with pets were placed on the lower levels only. At least that’s what the clerk assured me of at checkin Saturday night. In the past, I’ve noticed fleas in multiple units on the first floor in the past. So I asked for a floor where pets weren’t allowed. There was a dog somewhere on the 3rd floor near room 328. I and a lot of my family have been guest at this location a lot in the past and I have noticed a steady decline in its upkeep and management. I won’t be staying there ever again. I paid $200 to stay in a room with bed bugs. I have photos of the underwear and the bedbugs.
