Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe hotel is on Pacific Coast Highway and we could hear traffic. The common areas have carpet that is old but the room has tile. The mattress was ok but the pillows were great.
The hotel is right on the beach. Beautiful view! It is across the street from the Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve. There are restaurants within walking distance. Our room was clean and had tile floors.

United States of AmericaThe facilities are run down, showing signs of age, wear and tear. We had an updated room which had elegant fixtures. The room lighting doesn't have ceiling lights so its a bit dim with the two bed lights and a desk lamp, one ceiling light near the closet. One of the pillows provided must have been one of those "MyPillow" because it was full of lumpy pieces of foam that smelled bad so I didn't use it. The sheets are low quality hospital grade. There was a small area of mold near the ceiling in the bathroom and a splash of something on the wall. Our room had a hard floor so there wasn't the sticky carpet situation mentioned in the other review. There was no breakfast provided. The balcony had cheap plastic table and chairs, it fit our bikes but is smaller than the balconies on the 1st floor. Unless you're looking to utilize the close proximity of the beach, there are much better appointed hotels for the price that are located further inland.
Considering some of the reviews, I was leery at first but I wanted to be right on the beach, not across PCH from the beach for three times the price. Travelodge exceeded my expectations. The staff was pleasant and helped me print out a gift certificate for dinner. The coffee (no breakfast) in the morning was plentiful. They offered a free Epoch Times newspaper to read. We kept our bikes in the room so we could use them everyday. We biked all the way to Newport one day, spent several days watching the US OPEN of Surfing, biked around Sunset Beach along the greenway to eat at Harbor House, Super Mex and have great beer at RIIP. There is an informative self guided walking tour brochure of Sunset Beach. The Bolsa Chica Preserve is across the street; it has a nature center and is considered a worldwide biodiversity hotspot, the largest saltwater marsh in SoCal with an amazing history. There are unshaded walking trails, no biking allowed because of the delicate nature. We saw coyote, rabbits, lizards and thousands of birds. The hotel beds were comfy; we had a beach side view with a smaller balcony that was on the far south of the the building so it overlooked the OCTA bus stop circle with an unobstructed ocean view. From room door to sand was a one minute walk. Those rooms come with two queen beds. Our room was on the second floor, as far from the elevator as possible so there was no upstairs or elevator noise. The Wifi speed was great; we did some work and it only dropped the meeting once.

United States of AmericaThere was construction going on at the hotel, which I didn't see posted when I booked my visit. The hotel also doesn't notify you if your room is ready early, which I appreciate from other hotels.
The hotel was a very short walk to the beach. There were places to eat across the street, so we didn't need to drive anywhere, which was very nice. The room was clean & comfortable, and had a balcony with a little table & chairs outside.

United States of AmericaThe lobby and hotel decor is very outdated. The room however was updated and clean. There is construction going on around building, so I assume they are in the process of updating the entire property.
The location is perfect with many food options across the street in front and the beach behind the property.

United States of AmericaInvesting on some outdoor paint & upgrade of the rooms would make this a more memorable stay as the location to the beach is nice & close ( 1 min walk across the parking lot). The picture shows a beige hotel with a good paint job & it didn’t look like that when we arrived. If you are used to budgeting in 3rd world countries or are ok with camping in tents, this place will be enough for you. If you are looking for a nice memorable room experience, this is not it, so depends on what you are looking for. If you just want a room for late in the evenings to come to & go from, this may work as the room is big enough for a family of 4. Do not expect any type of luxury.
It’s close to a quiet beach; Sunset beach. A 5-10 min ubber drive to Huntington beach that will cost you about $12 dollars.

Austriayou get what you pay for. Direct beach access would cost a lot more at other places. Building is old and would need renovation. From first sight this hotel would not be a preferred location but at the end it turned out to be better than expected.
location directly at the beach front. The rooms facing to the beach are quiet. I would not book a room facing the Pacific Coast Highway. my room was renovated and clean, with a balcony looking to the Pacific Ocean - very nice. Parking lot in the garage available.
