Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaSmall entryway to place, but good establishment. Must open a heavy door and CLIMB STAIRS upon entry. SHUTTLE SERVICE (drivers) didn't show up multiple times upon several calls to get picked up TO/FROM PATH train station (walked 3 times at night back to hotel). Phone service with staff was less than satisfactory. CAR PARKING at a high cost is available for visitors when street side is unavailable. Hotel is near a handful of PANHANDLERS and homeless people since it's Downtown Newark; safety concerns walking at night. Hotel has limited to no SEATING in waiting area & King bedroom (other than bed and small ottoman) and desk had no chair. COLD BATHROOM FLOORS due to window placement. Used towels to minimize cold feet. Not fully satisfied with service experience although the hotel brand and room was basic/okay. Do not feel excited to return if I visit Newark again.
Location was very close to PATH train and local shopping. Hotel was clean for general standards, and had beautiful interior design and artistic decor. Staff were primarily nice (in-person); shuttle service unreliable however. Large bedroom TV and KING bed room was spacious. High ceiling rooms with an impressively large chandelier and daylight lighting (but not dimmable). Good short stay for in & out travelling, but not long-term.

GermanyI’ve sent questions via booking.com and by direct email and both never have been answered.
We had room 304. It was spacious, with a fridge, ironboard and a little desk with the coffeemaker. The bathroom was spacious too with a big shower. There were restaurants and stores in about 5 minute walking distance. Train station to NYC is in about 10 minutes walking distance.

The staff were really helpful and friendly. Jason, the bartender in Dutch’s bar/restaurant was particularly helpful and made a half decent espresso martini!

United States of AmericaA few minor, yet still annoying issues: Main doors into building is heavy, and actually difficult to open (especially with luggage). Elevator button in lobby is “sticky” and sometimes took longer than usual to “call” the elevator. For business travelers who need to work at in-room desk: desk is small and an “ottoman” is the chair (I did ask the Front Desk for a regular chair, and I did get one). Felt that the breakfast buffet cost of $18 is overpriced; other hotels with a similar offering often provide complimentary breakfast. AC controls in room: felt that it was either too cold or too warm; couldn’t quite get the right setting or fan speed. Outlet (for phone charging) is only on one side of the bed.
Vibe, location, staff, large bathroom, excellent shower. Boutique-like feel; nice renovation of a historic hotel. Nice having parking adjacent to property ($20/day). On-site restaurant. Nice having an in-room fridge.

United States of AmericaThe staff could've been friendlier. I did not receive a warm welcome right away. The first person I spoke with named Juan seemed like he hated his job and that I was bothering him. My other friend who stayed in another room had his identity stolen after noticing extra hotel charges on his card. He had to ask multiple times for the staff to take a look until they took him seriously. Turns out, another guest was using his card. I'm not sure how that even happened but it was disappointing to watch how the staff didn't care to help at first.
The rooms were clean and comfortable and there were a lot of walkable cafes and restaurants near the hotel. The AC was running smoothly especially since the Summer just started. The bathrooms were also clean and the water pressure and the temperature was great. Overall, the stay was worth the price.
