Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaIt would have been nice if the rooms had a fridge, microwave and coffee maker , but they did have a common room which had all these appliances which the guests were able to use. Also the tv's in the room were tiny. Staying here was more for the novelty than for comfort. No elevator so we left our heavy suitcases in the car and just brought up a change of clothes and toiletries in small overnight bag.
The location is good, the staff was friendly and the room was clean. My 11 yr old granddaughter got a kick out of it. She had never stayed in an historical building before. It was a fun experience for her. Overall it's a beautiful hotel and the rooms are nicely decorated.

The hotel was beautiful! Nice spacious room. Wonderful linens. More than enough pillows and towels. The grab and go breakfast was nice, and the coffee served with it was fabulous! Wonderful location.

United States of AmericaOnly that we could not stay longer!
It's small-town Americana at the Victorian Inn in Ferndale. Innkeepers Lowell and Jenny were exceptional hosts, and made us feel very welcome and at home. The rooms were larger than expected for an old hotel. Our room was upstairs, and there was a nice sitting room on the 2nd floor with a lounge area, games, and a Kerig coffee maker. A grab-and-go breakfast was available in the morning (a great option for those on the go) but they welcomed us to stay and eat in the restaurant/bar.

United States of AmericaI would just recommend calling the hotel to make sure the restaurant/bar is open if you were planning on using either of the two. No fault of their own, they are not able to stay open seven days a week (at this time). There is no in room fridge, but there is a fridge in the common area that we were able to use that is very easily accessible.
My husband and i stayed here on our road trip during the crazy, rainy weather that we had in March. Our experience was as good as it could be, under the circumstances. Every person we encountered was so genuine and friendly. The restaurant and bar were not opened, much to my chagrin. Our room was very pretty, and the hotel itself was lovely in general. Due to the rain, our exploration of the town was minimal, but I was so impressed with the owners, particularly Jenny, of this unique hotel. Due to the weather conditions, the little town was suffering and had to go into survival mode. After all the Covid mess, they had to endure yet another setback. But how they handled it was so heartening. Jenny explained that they rally together and decide which three restaurants are going to stay open on a particular day. That night, it was Mexican food, pizza and a little place called the Boardroom. We had just had the former two, so opted for the wild card. Wow, we were so pleased! Food was excellent, prices were fantastic and atmosphere was lively and festive. Just what we needed! For breakfast, they had a grab and go bag that you picked up in the bar area of the hotel (it was actually quite yummy!). They had coffee brewing to to take to go as well! Before we left, I got to spend a little time in town going to a few of the shops. Everyone was so nice to deal with, and I found several things I had hoped to find. My husband went for a hike while I was shopping, and shared how beautiful it was and will definitely do a bike ride next time. I can't wait to go back here to this sweet little town of Ferndale and to stay at the Victorian Inn when the weather is more welcoming!

United States of America1) There is a fire station in the town. They had two-three alarms during the night. The siren was VERY loud.
1) The location. Ferndale is a rare gem. We are so glad that we found it. 2) The historical building. 3) The restaurant on the property is great. The service was slow, but the food was very good. 4) The price is reasonable.

United States of Americawe needed the exercise so not having an elevator was no big deal it came with the era of the hotel. 😁
Ambiance, people, food at VI’s was fabulous and the complimentary breakfast that Lowell & Jenny offered at the Victorian Inn was not only healthy but delicious, the quaint town, felt very safe as we walked about this friendly town. We had a really great stay! Thank you!!

United States of AmericaThe "grab and go" breakfast box was a bit antaclimatic in a hotel with such character. The cold croissant (defrosted but kept in the fridge) served in a plastic box with plastic silverware were not what we would expect. Also the coffee/tea were served in paper cups. We had our breakfast in the restaurant area the first day and it felt awkward to eat from a box. We had breakfast in the common room after that, and we were able to warm up the croissant in a microwave. Still a disappointing featurethat could so easily be improved.
Lovely building in the quaint town of Ferndale. Nice size room with a large bathroom. Spotty internet in the room but the common area had the router and we were able to work our devices there.
