Food is incredible, a must try when visiting Zao. Location is near the main attractions, like the cable car is reachable by walking. Lots of nearby onsens.

Dewa Shrine is located an 8-minute walk away. Free WiFi is available in all areas. This was my third time staying and I will return again. I really love the cooking which uses many dishes only found in this area. It’s a short walk to the start of the Haguro San stair walk so it’s ideal to stay here if you are planning to do the walk.

The wooden structure of the property portrays a traditional Japanese-style accommodation. Free Wi-Fi is available at the lobby. Very nice, traditional experience! We were very surprised with the diversity of the breakfast. If you want to experience a proper Japanese breakfast, here is one place where you can do that very well. The onsen was very pleasant too, but you might need to get accustomed to the temperature. All in all we had a very pleasant stay here and we can definitely recommend! Thanks a lot :)

Luggage storage service is available at the front desk and a gift shop and drinks vending machines can also be found on site. Polite and friendly staff. Great food. Good onsen. Nearby lake and view is beautiful.

Mizusawa-Esashi Station is 22 km away and Mizusawa Station is 22 km from the ryokan. I didn't take the breakfast, so I can't comment on it. Location was good for me since I wanted to walk everyday.

Food is incredible - deserves a bib gourmand! Rooms are large and comfortable with a view. Onsen is lovely. The best is the free alcohol and hot drink service in the evenings around the fireplace. Definitely stay here if you can! It’s once in a lifetime type stuff
