The location was really good. It’s walking distance from the bus terminal; walking distance from the Sakurajima ferry terminal and walking distance from tenmonkan. During our stay we didn’t need to use any public transport as we walked everywhere. The hotel was very nice and cozy and while we were on vacation, it felt like this is more of a business hotel where it’s more for people who traveling on business.
We mistakenly booked a smoking room but it wasn’t that bad as we had the room on the top floor and we could open the windows if we wanted. Initially there was a little smell but after ventilating it, it got better.
The staff was really nice and friendly and while they didn’t have a buffet breakfast, we tried all 3 of their breakfast meals and we loved the Keihan meal the most and would highly recommend guests to opt for that when staying there.

The stores and restaurants in the train station were good.
The stores and restaurants in the train station were good. There is the famous Kiriko cut glass factory and gift shop, Senganen Gardens and an excellent restaurant with a view of the volcano, Yamakataya department store, and the people in Kagoshima are very helpful and friendly. Every time I go to Japan I go to Kagoshima now. It also has hot springs. It is easy to catch the bus and tram cars that come often to get around.

We liked the nearby shops, the closeness to ferry and trainstation with Shinkansen accessibility. We found a lot of different style restaurants nearby.
In our experience was 1 Queen-bed too small for 2 european people.
The free space allowed us to only open 1 suitcase at a time.

Fascinating, lively city, interesting surroundings, very approachable people. Good food, too. Public transport is well-organised and affordable, and easy to navigate. Sakurajima's brooding, smoke-spewing presence provides the city with a unique atmosphere. I recommend the Kagoshima Brands store for souvenirs and omiyage (9-1 Meizanchō, Kagoshima). And don't miss Sengenan on any account!

Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard.
Kagoshima is a city with a large volcano in its back yard. It make for a different kind of vibe. It is also a port city with many ferries, mostly going south to the little island atchepelago that ends in Okinawa. Warmer weather than most of Japan but still pretty chill in January. Nice people, I found them friendly. I like the place.

Sakurajima ,Senganen, Siroyama, Tenmonkan, and so on. Famous sight seeing spots, I recommend you. And local foods, such as satsumaage, black pig, karukanmanjyu, kibinago, you had better try them.

The rural areas of southern Kagoshima are very different from the rest of Japan, with not so huge mountains and very spacious land. It gives a very nice and different vibe seeing all those flat farmlands spread along the see, with a backdrop of volcanoes and hot springs. There are also some good hiking spots. Especially, Yakushima is a paradise for hikers with its deep, pristine and quite untouched forests and streams.
Wonderful hotel with a very nice ambiente, friendly staff and stunning views of the Sakurajima volcano. Everything was great, the spa/onsen was awesome and there was even a free shuttle bus to the train station. The location is good to explore Kagoshima with a bus stop, a convenience store and a really good restaurant next to the hotel (although sometimes a taxi is needed to get around). The Hotel also has a neat small store itself with souvenirs and necessities. We would always come back and can only recommend the place.
The hotel is right next to the station. We drove a car and we were able to find the right parking garage with the help of the people working on the street level. The room was of adequate size and was in excellent condition. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The staff were very attentive. We had breakfast included and there was a variety of Japanese and Western options. I felt like our room was great value for dollar.
Super easy to checkin with the iPad, but you need to register your information online first which is convenient considering no need to queue up and wait for staff. The location is 30 seconds away from bus to airport! It is good since it is the only public transportation to get to airport. Aeon Supermarket is close by. And the room comes with washing machine and drying room! Totally recommended
the location was perfect for us as it’s very near JR station and the airport bus just at the hotel entrance. Booked a room of 2 single beds with beautiful Sakurajima Mountain Views. staying there for 6 nights, feel comfy with great views, room size of about 22m, bathroom had shower and bathtub which was great. breakfast had local and western style of food.
Onsen was really nice but beware, water is very hot, 42 degrees C. There is also a cold water pool :-) The breakfast was really good. Location is quite convenient, in the middle of the shopping district, half way between the Kagoshima Chuo station and the port. The weather did not play along so we could not even see the volcano.
The Gracias has apartments rather than rooms. There is a kitchen with a full size refrigerator, a microwave, and a two burner electric cooktop. It has a washing machine. Michiko was delightful. This is not a luxury hotel but the location cannot be beat. I’lll enclose a photo of the view from the sliding glass door.
Immaculately kept destination hotel in Kagoshima. The public areas are beautiful with attention paid to the smallest of details. Beautiful views of iconic Sakurajima with city scapes surrounded by verdant green. Breakfast buffet offered some of the most delicious Japanese fare I had during my stay.
The location is very convenient and close to Chuo Station. Very clean. Easy to check in via self check in. All amenities were complete for an overnight stay. I like how the hotel is practicing sustainability by providing the amenities at the lobby so customers can pick just what are needed.
It was my third time here. When I’m in Japan I always love to visit Kagoshima and also this hotel. The personnel are so friendly and helpful. The breakfast is great and the rooms are nice. The hotel to me is special because it was my first hotel when visited Japan for the first time.
The standard twin room was relatively bigger than other hotels in Japan. The room itself was renovated and clean.
There is a parking lot right in front of the hotel and very close to Tenmonkan, restaurants and bar area.
Last but not least, the buffet breakfast was really good.
Unfortunately I could not make the booking but my friend did. This is his comment on his stay at Hotel Lexton.
Beat all expectations, comfortable bed, great facilities, great staff and located in the centre of Kagoshima.
My friend was very happy with his stay!!
-Big and clean room. It was also very clean in the common areas, ie in the kitchen, bathroom, toilet.
-Good location (5 minutes walk to the Kagoshima-Chuo station).
-There were few guests, so it was quiet and peaceful without any noise in the corridor.
The room was clean and complete though a little worn. The hotel is directly connected to the station so it's really convenient. Breakfast comprised of a curated selection of Kagoshima's most iconic delicacies. Recommended!
very good location, ~300m from Kagoshima Chuo Station. Staff is very friendly. Everything is clean and tidy.
If you arrive late, you can check in by yourself. Staff can email you the password for the back door.
Great location! Easy access to bus terminal for airport shuttle and the main station for Kagoshima city. Well-equipped room with 2 double beds for maximum comfort. It’s pretty much like a home!
Quiet, budget stay in Kagoshima. Located well in the city (close to a tram stop, airport limousine bus nearby, easy access to Sakurajima), Bed was comfortable and sheets were clean.
Close to midtown Kagoshima and the major areas.
Room had a partially obscured view but a view.
Top room is great for looking at Kagoshima, being among the higher areas.
Staff were extremely friendly and helpful - even though there was a communication barrier. Excellent massage. Nice onzen - unusual to find in a budget hotel.
