Park Plaza County Hall London, hotel in London

Located on London's South Bank, this modern and family-friendly hotel is just a few minutes’ walk from the River Thames and London Eye.

Perfect location in the very center of London, yet a bit away from the super busy and overcrowded areas. Ideal for families (and not only) to explore the city, on foot and using the public transport. Rooms are designed for families, with a sleeping room, a large sofa for the kids and a kitchenette. Adequate space in the room and closets to unpack and keep your clothes sorted or suitcases stored and covered. Breakfast was rich and absolutely delicious, indeed it sometimes requires a bit of patience to get a table, still it's manageable and you see the staff doing their best to satisfy all guests. We would return!

Service in the casual dining area was slow, not enough staff. As there isn't a menu provided for the Saturday morning breakfast didn't realize we paid £35 for a bowl of cereal, toast and coffee until the bill came. The concierge was very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

London is a city that never tires you.

London is a city that never tires you. Come here if you are .. single, a family with children, a group teenagers, adults: it is a city for all ages! It offers a wide variety of attractions. But be real to spend money on them. Museums are free (National Gallery, Science Museum, Natural History Museum, British Museum) but you pay for St Paul and Westminster Abbey, unless you get in for a prayer or when there is the choir singing. The London Eye and Madame Tussauds are a great experience but too expensive! It is really easy to move from one place to another by tube, it is really expensive though. We had our dinner at typical pubs where you can have good fish and chips or chicken and a glass of beer at reasonable price.

It's a big fast paced city so if you are not used to that it can be a bit wearing. The historical attractions are it's draw but they are sadly being enveloped by large ugly sky scrapers. City views from high up are uninspiring. Still, we enjoyed our stay, our Thames cruise, touring the Tower, Tower Bridge, St. Paul's, Westminster, Kew Gardens and finding the oldest pubs in London.

Unless you live here, you will never have enough time for London! There's so much to experience. Go to Leicester Square for atmosphere, the Lego Shop and statues, but buy your souvenirs elsewhere, they're tack and over-priced in this area. For souvenirs just go in local shops, most have a range of items and they're better priced then the major tourist areas. Eat in Soho/China Town near the West End, great food for reasonable prices. For a cheap experience, walk the Thames, its so lovely, plenty of history and coffee shops along the way.

Too much to do and see. I only ended up doing things on Central London, I had a list of restaurants and food street to visit, a list of museums, but there is so much to do that things just kept popping up and getting later on the list. As someone living in Lisbon I really needed the air of a big city, the British are very polite, so it is great.

These aparthotels are located about 10 minutes walk from Aldgate East tube station which is well connected to get all over London. They are secure and accessed by key card swipe at all points of access. The room was a good size with a king size very comfortable bed. Bathroom was well equip with an excellent shower. There is a microwave, fridge and kettle in the room making breakfast easier as it is not provided at these apartments. I’ve been staying in cheap hotels part of the week for work since moving out of London about a year ago and have stayed in some ok places and some real dives (Not looking at you Forest Gate Hotel…) The Amhurst is easily the best of the lot so far. It was super clean, the owner was really friendly and it was generally cozy. Top marks. Bonus tip: ten minute walk away is a chip van that does the best fish and chips in London! The location was extremely convenient for connecting with the Heathrow express, and a good price for London. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding was actually unusually soft for a hotel room. We found the sound of the tube (which seems to run under the hotel) rather soothing, like a periodic thunder storm.
