I found Madrid a genteel sort of place with a good range of galleries and museums. It also had some great parks and outdoor spaces. It wasn't too expensive and the Metro system was good. However, it didn't seem to have so much evening entertainments.
If I went again, I certainly wouldn't bother with El Escorial.

We most liked the galleries, the parks and wished we had visited Atocha Station. Unfortunately, The Prado cancelled our pre-booked tour, the day before we flew. Visit late afternoon if you can! We ate in Spanish restaurants and they were so good. We used the Tourist bus, which was good. However, some of the finger posts, around the main area (at the bottom of the hill leading to El Retiro) were confusing. Nothing to avoid really.

Amazing city with vibrant history and modern nowadays - offers various contents for everyone: art, local food specialities, many amazing parks, easy-to-use metro!
N.B. put on SPF! UV index can be really high to extreme even in May (11 during our trip), beware of sunburns!
N.B. get ready to be stuck at traffic jam if you're traveling on a ground level in high hours (I recommend Metro!)
Must visit: Museo de Jamon, Chocolateria San Ginés, Reina Sofia, Retiro park, Prado museum AND Toledo city tour!

Madrid seems a vibrant, happening city with lots to see and do. We only had one day here but definitely could spend longer exploring all the little places that make the city special. Loads of cafes, restaurants, bars and bakeries. It was certainly a lovely and entertaining city.

Its a beautiful city, full of history.
Its a beautiful city, full of history. I particularly loved the architecture.
The parquede El Retiro is a nice place to visit.
The Cathederal and the Royal Palace are a worthwhile visit.
Lots of Plaza's (squares) with restaurants with tables and chairs outside. Plenty of choices regarding where to eat and drink.
Whilst we didnt use the Metro on this visit, I have previously used it, and its very easy to get around the city.
Bolt and Uber are also easily available to getting around.

You need to know where to go from a local or you will end up in a tourist trap. I am Spanish and I didn’t find many places for a good quality-price relation food wise compared to other places such as Valencia, Sevilla, Granada, Leon or Mallorca. City is a bit too crowded at times. There are many theatres to go for a show if you have time enough. I feel it is a good city for a short visit (like 2-3 days) but not much longer. If you will stay longer then is worth it to take a day excursion to wonderful Toledo, Avila, Salamanca, Leon… In general we were ok with 2 nights stay, don’t feel like I’ll be missing too much
Great spot if you are there to catch a flight in the morning. You can be at the airport in 15 minutes (500 meters walk + short metro ride). Rooms modern and clean, and actually with much better sound proofing than most rooms in Madrid or Spain in general. You have the restaurant downstairs and really everything you need to spend a night before flying away. AC worked superbly well, despite the fact that the evening was extremely warm outside. Staff members I met were friendly and welcoming as well.
I liked the hotel very much. It is located close to metro station and you can walk to nearby attractions and city centre. I had a medium size room and it was spotless clean with card access. The bed was super comfortable and clean. The bathroom and shower size were very good. The wifi service was also very good as well as air conditioning system. I rated the hotel compared to similar accommodations and if you reserve well in advance it’s a value for money. I will comeback if next time in Madrid.
All the staff at the hotel were very nice and friendly , the gentleman who checked us in also gave us some recommendations of good Spanish restaurants nearby, sadly I forgot to get his name. The bar is very nice & so is the swimming pool. The hotel is 2 minutes walk away from the Metro which takes you into Madrid city centre and there are many restaurants and cafes within walking distance. We parked in their underground carpark which was secure and reasonably priced.
Amazing facility! Staff were lovely and really cared about customer service. The rooms were very comfortable and very quiet! During our travel in Spain one issue we had often was the lack of sound insulation, so it was a joy to have a peaceful night without being woken up. I picked this hotel for our last evening in Spain before flying home. The convenience of the location adjacent to the airport was great with a regular scheduled shuttle bus to the terminals.
I've been to Madrid a few times already but this hotel is the best! Perfect location! Within walking distance to places of interest (Plaza del Sol, Opera, Plaza Mayor, Mercado de San Miguel, Palacio Real, Gran Via, Metro Stations, shopping centers, restaurants, etc.). Excellent staff - from the reception to the breakfast crew to housekeeping. Hotel is very clean and the interior design is quite high end.
The hotel is located at the business district of Madrid, 5 minutes walking distance from Chamartin central train and subway station, very convenient not only to commute to the city centre but also to visit nearby cities. The room was spacious enough with nice furniture and quiet. The breakfast, althougt it costed 25€, was very satisfying offering a big variety. The staff were friendly and helpful.
I've been back and forth to Spain from the US many times, and I always pick Clement Barajas as my airport hotel the day before I fly back. It is comfortable, close to the airport, and in walking distance to restaurants in the Barajas area. It has good facilities (a/c and wifi) and the staff are helpful. We also appreciated the 8 euro (in June 2023) breakfast buffet to fill up before our flight
The hotel is so close to everything train station, tourist destination, mercado de san miguel and a grocery near by, the staffs are so helpful, friendly and accommodating, breakfast is excellent foods are so good, rooms are so clean . If i go back there i will stay again in your hotel, i will recommend this to my friends and those who planned to go Madrid its in the city centre.
The staff were outstanding. The cosiness of the facility with the amazing interior design and the variety. The flexibility of the 24 hour Checkin and checkout.
Location to city centre was so convenient.
It was busy and exciting down in the bar and restaurants but once in the room, there was the privacy and quietness. I will choose this hotel again when back in Madrid.
The hotel is very well located in the centre of Madrid, with a good metro connection to the airport. Gran Via and Moncloa within walking distance from the hotel, nice places to eat around. The host is friendly. No problem with noise from the street (we had a room in the back). The bathroom was clean. The room was small, but ok. A good option for this price.
This hotel was the most comfortable hotel out of the three I visited in Spain, the room was very comfortable and the only one with the best-sleeping mattress firm and pillows. The room has a lot of amenities including a press iron table for your clothes in case you need it. The hotel's service is great and employees are very friendly and helpful.
Best hostel type property in Spain
Cannot be rated as an hostel should be given a hotel status
Very clean and spacious rooms and complementary coffee and water is really good for travellers
Very kind and helpful staff and amazing location very easy to get to any type of city transport services
Excellent location, clean and all the necessary amenities. lots of supermarkets, shops, restaurants and bars around in a not very touristy part of Madrid. Yet it’s close to the city centre and the main sights. A walk to Gran Via takes 25 minutes (but there is of course also a Metro station nearby).
very good breakfast, related to 4 other hotels I took in Spain, this hotel offered one of the best breakfasts,
location is excellent, very close to all Madrid monuments... 10-15 minutes walk.
also close to metro station, where u can take a metro to Santiago Bernabeu.
Has a free airport shuttle. Good location relative to the airport, although it is impractical to walk to. Bathroom was tied for best amoung the six places we stayed in Spain for. Staff were very accomodating.
Location is very convenient with pleasant walking to all main attractions. The room is big and very clean. The bed are very comfortable. Plenty restaurants around. It was the best hotel through our Spain trip.
Beautiful, modern hotel in the city centre, close to the main sights of Madrid. Extremely nice and helpful staff. If we return to Madrid, we will definitely choose this hotel again.
Best location and lodging in all of Spain.
Full time staff in the lobby to answer all your questions ( in perfect English).
