With a dome reminiscent of Brunelleschi’s "The Duomo" in Florence, the Hungarian parliament building is undoubtedly the icon of Budapest. It sits majestically by the Danube, the river that both divides and unifies the 2 parts of this capital city: Buda and Pest.
Overseeing Budapest from its vantage point on Castle Hill is Buda Castle. Spectacularly lit at night, it has the best views across this attractive city steeped in World Heritage. Some unique points of interest are Heroes Square and the Museum of Terror, reminders of the city’s more turbulent past.
Much like in Vienna further up the Danube, coffee and cake is practically an institution in Budapest. And there’s nowhere better to try them than Gerbeaud - the elaborate décor alone makes this café well worth a visit.
To really feel like a local, make a trip to the thermal baths. The relaxed Gellért Baths are a triumph of Art Nouveau grandeur and, based on their sheer size, you can't miss the outdoor Széchenyi Baths. If unusual nightlife is your thing, the club nights at these baths are great fun.

Beautiful city but not tourist welcoming. They are very rude specially the women. No Patience, roll their eyes when you are counting coins or did not understand. The city is beautiful but expect a poor customer service and no kindness at all.

Went for the Dimash concert and it was awesome.
Went for the Dimash concert and it was awesome. The Papp Laszlo Arena was easy to get to and from due to the excellent public transport system. Lots of trees/shade in the city on hot days, plenty of cafe's/restaurants/bars to cater to all price brackets. Particularly enjoyed the dancing fountains on Margaret Island; the House of Music Hungary in City Park an exhibition space and open air theatre combined was one of the highlights of my trip, the permanent exhibition was fantastic. Plenty for history buffs but close to beautiful Buda hills for those who like to walk/hike. Nagycsarnok Market (nr Liberty Bridge) worth a visit. Best to book ahead if you want tours in a specific language, to save a wasted journey, especially in high season. I hope I have an opportunity to return to this beautiful city, and spend more time with it's citizens, despite my very limited Hungarian vocabulary.

we didnt like the service charge in resteraunts and bars. The transport system was very good and there is discount for over 65yrs and free for over 70yrs. The metros are very clean and regular and easy to navigate. The historical places of interest are excellent. If you're staying longer than 72 hours, just take the 15 days-card via the Budapest Go app. It's just as expensive (cheap) as 72 hours card. So for 15 euro's you're covered for all public transport!

Excellent city trip with family. One day is sufficient to visit parliament building in the morning and evening the buda castle. One day to visit Zoo and botanical garden.
