It was waaaaay cleaner before. We stayed in this hotel in 2019 and came back again this month. We love this hotel because of its location but I hope the room cleaners will do a better job. Unfortunately the room is dirty. We arrived and the bathroom was not too clean and the floor is not being vacuumed. I hope the room cleaners will improve because this hotel's location is the best.

Actual hotel and immediate area seemed very upscale. For the price we paid, we were impressed and satisfied. Lots of free toiletries and amenities and our room was cleaned daily (fresh towels, trash disposal and beds made) for no extra cost.

Very nice hotel. We were on the 12th floor and the view was great. Took two connecting rooms that were great for a family of 5 (also means two bathrooms which is always a plus). 20 min walk from Osaka bus station. The area was interesting (more for adults, less options with kids), we wanted to be near the bus station so it was OK for us.

We got a room on the 25th floor with a great view. The hotel is directly at the station and easy to reach.
The twin room was big enough to store two small suitcases and the breakfast was good as well.
The best feature was the restaurant and bar on the top floor with an outdoor area. Especially in the evening the view was amazing.

At the meeting point of river and sea, huge Osaka combines forward-thinking development and sure-footed tradition. This is symbolised in its temple-like, 16th century castle, guarded by ramparts and enlivened by vibrant spring cherry blossom. Dominating the surrounding skyline is Osaka Business Park, a reminder of the city’s strong role in the Japanese economy.
However, the most striking skyscraper is the Umeda Sky Building - 2 towers connected by a rooftop terrace offering far-reaching views. The nearby Osaka and Umeda train stations are linked by underground shopping centres, while the shops of Shinsaibashi’s America Village appeal to a younger crowd. Dōtonbori’s neon lights promote more shops, as well as restaurants considered the best in Osaka. In a city touted as Japan’s culinary capital, that’s quite an accolade.
The Tsūtenkaku tower overlooks Tennōji Park, home of the Osaka Municipal Museum of Art. Another nearby park houses Shitennō-ji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples.
The Kyocera Dome Osaka is a shrine of baseball, and more thrills are at waterfront Universal Studios Japan, the country’s 2nd largest theme park. Also by the sea is Kansai International Airport, on its own artificial island.
The capsule hotel was invented in Osaka, and alongside this type of accommodation, Booking.com also offers luxury hotels with pools, cheap hostels and traditional ryokans.

Everything is good except using the train; it’s super complicated and confusing and a lot of people. I think it needs better English translation of how to access the train especially when buying tickets and transfers and exiting the stations.

I booked 4 nights in Osaka which was too long given we had already spent a week in Kyoto which was very close by. If I returned to Japan I'd prefer to have spent longer in Kyoto with a day trip to Osaka.
Best place to visit was the Team Lab Borderless Garden, even though we had a massive downpour in the middle of the visit it was magical and would recommend to everyone. The park restaurant was also a bonus and would recommend eating a small tea there before visiting.
Dotonburi was worth visiting for an evening also.
Having travelled around Japan for the preceding 3 weeks we were shocked to see litter in Osaka and smoking on the streets. The quality of food around Dotonburi wasn't great compared to similar places in other cities.

We booked for 2 nights in Osaka, but as the transport to get there is so efficient, one night would be sufficient to see the sights. Osaka Castle well worth the visit, but easily done if a few hours. Tip: when using the Metro lines, opt for the cheapest fare, and if insufficient, visit the "Fare Adjustment" counter upon arrival at your destination.

Osaka has lots of different things to see, from the castle to the aquarium, modern shopping centers to neon-lit tourist streets and giant underground shopping/dining complexes.
Public transportation is convenient, clean, safe, and timely. Multiple interweaving systems can be a bit confusing, and transfers between lines might involve a bit of walking through large stations.
Osaka is an easy central point for visiting Kyoto, Kobe, Himeji.

For our 4 days and 3 nights stay in Osaka we were able to go...
For our 4 days and 3 nights stay in Osaka we were able to go to Universal Studios, Osaka Castle, Umeda Sky Building, Shinsekai, Dotonbori / Shinsaibashi and Namba Yasaka Shrine. All of those places I mentioned have restaurants if you happen to get hungry. Our to go to when we needed a snack was family mart which was everyone. We had to take the train to reach the places I’ve mentioned - it’s cheaper compared to getting a taxi. Osaka is a great place. I would recommend it to those visiting Japan for the first time like my family.
I didn't have breakfast much as I was up and about earlier than 6:30 for most of the days there. However, the location was great - easy access to Shin-Osaka train station in a 5 minute walk on the Midosuji Subway line, which lets you get to key train stations like Namba and Umeda within the city centre for attractions like Dotonbori and the Umeda Sky Building. Shin-Osaka train station is also well-positioned for the JR lines across Japan, allowing for day trips to places like Kyoto and Hiroshima.
Great hotel. We came back three time during our stay in Japan and used this hotel as our base in Osaka. Room is small like most Japanese hotels but very clean and comfortable. Staff were great. Its very close to the subway station so easy to get around on the trains. Plenty of convienience stores around and some great restaurants as well. The area is very clean and quite. They have washing machines on the 6th floor which we found very convenient. Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.
I wanted to stay close to Shin-Osaka rail station to visit Hiroshima/Kyoto/Himeji etc. and Smile Hotel was a good choice. Just 5 min to Shin-Osaka, 3 min to nearest metro station. Lots of places to eat and 24h marts around. Hotel looks fresh, room was of a good size (for Japan), very clean, bed comfortable, could open the window which is important for me. They have coin laundry on site (typical for Japanese hotels - very convenient). Wifi worked ok.
Coming from of the 4 hotels we stayed at during our 3 weeks in Japan this was by far the largest and most modern room yet. Very impressed by the size, cleanliness and quality of the room. Self-check in and out was easy, received email with details day before arriving in Osaka. In room laundry was a plus, but we ended up going to a coin laundry to dry our clothes anyways. Great deal for anyone wanting to stay in the Namba area.
The hotel is perfectly located in central Osaka just 5 min walk from Namba station. I got a double beds room so just a bit larger than the Japanese standard anyway quite, comfortable and super clean. The front desk staff is outstanding they are helpful and so kind. The morning breakfast is fair with enough choices to get started in the best way. I spent 6 nights so enough to enjoy this excellent hotel. I highly recommend it!
The location cannot be beat. It’s literally a step away from Dotonbori, and very well connected with the rest of Osaka with Namba Station a few minutes walk away. The room was reasonably large for what I booked, and I especially loved the shower which had a very large space, entirely separate from the toilet, with a bath and stand up shower - a first that I’ve seen in Japan where hotel bathrooms can be a little cramped.
The position is great. The hotel is just in front of the exit of the subway. You can arrive to the hotel from Osaka train station by walking through the underground passage, very convenient if it is raining or extremely hot. The room was bigger than japanese standards and we could comfortably fit in two people with big luggage. The room was sparkling clean. Staff very helpful.
Location was perfect for touring the Dotonbori neighborhood and just a short walk from Namba Station. The staff was helpful and attentive with room requests. When I asked about getting a cab to Osaka Castle one of the staff immediately went to the front of the hotel and hailed a cab for us and then told the driver where we wanted to go. We would stay there again.
Centrally located hotel in Shinsaibashi neighborhood close to the shops, Dotonbori, Namba, train and subway stations. However, not noisy and calm hotel area. Breakfast is huge, Japanese food and options and I really liked it. There are all amenities you need as a traveller in the room and additionally available at the registration counter. Highly recommended.
This was our favorite hotel in Japan. We stayed 3 nights at this hotel. The room was spacious. It felt like a mini apartment. We also did laundry! The breakfast was amazing. They cleaned the room everyday. We were very close to the Namba station. I would totally stay in this hotel again when I go back to Osaka. Would totally recommend.
Spacious room compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in Osaka. Clean and comfortable. I love the bed and the linens, they are of high quality! They are very attentive and thoughtful. The walk from station to hotel is around 10mins, but you can cut through Namba Parks or Namba City so it’s still convenient. The staff are nice
Within 10 minutes walking to Dontonburi and across the street from Family Mart. Close to Namba subway line. Bathroom was relatively large for a Japanese hotel room and it was nice there was a separate tub from the shower. The hotel also provides complimentary bath salts. Staff was kind and efficient check in/out.
My favorite hotel chain. :) As with all Henn na Hotels I’ve stayed in so far, the Shinsaibashi one is great, too:
- Affordable
- Quite spacious, bright room
- Easy AI check-in process (human staff is available too if needed)
- Helpful and friendly staff
- In the heart of Osaka, near Dotonbori
Great location, easy access to all bars and restaurants in Dotonbori. Easy to get to from Shin-Osaka station, although the hotel could have mentioned which exit to take in Namba station! The bedroom was compact but comfortable. It was nice to find English speaking films on TV.
It is within walking distance from JR-Namba station. The Namba OCAT bus terminal is just beside the hotel. From the hotel, you can walk to Dotonbori and take the trains to other areas in Osaka, such as Osaka Umeda station and the rapid express train to Nara.
Great location, very friendly and helpful staff. Room was a comfortable version of the standard Japanese business hotel style. Very easy to get to any part of Osaka, and conveniently located for leaving on day trips round Kansai from Namba or Tennoji.
The hotel is very well located in the Namba district of Osaka and very close to the main shopping, entertainment and food district of Dotonbori. For its central location the hotel is very reasonable value for money.
