Crazy traffic and noise, dangerous to walk as a pedestrian since there are almost no traffic lights and pedestrian crossings. Uber taxis are very cheap, but most of them drive like crazy and don't have functional seatbelts at the back seats. We found the best food and view at the Greek Club, and amazing croissants at the Croissant D'Alexis! Montazah park is beautiful and offers some fantastic views away from the traffic and the noise.

Visiting town centre, with its many suks, was one of the highlights. Major sights like the Library are well known. Less so the newly renovated Greek and Roman Art Museum. Our guide didn't intend to take us there but we insisted and were very pleased that we did as it is one of the most important museums in Egypt.

It’s a great city for the soul. Once you enter the city and see the sea, you will feel so refreshing.
Everything is great there, whatever historical places or nature or atmosphere in the downtown in the night.

There is no place to take a pleasant walk in the city or spend time except the museum and library. It is a very ruined, chaotic, noisy, dirty city with terrible traffic, so walking or hanging around is not only unpleasant but also tiring. However, its library and Greco-Roman Museum are incredibly impressive. Other museums are very ordinary. Seafood dishes are very fresh, delicious, and reasonably priced. Therefore, I think 2 days are enough to visit this city; You can spend a lot of time in the library and the museum, take a coffee break in a cafe (the number of stylish ones is almost nonexistent), take a short city walk and see what looks like it and gain insight about the city and have a seafood dinner in the evening and continue on your way.

was a lovely hotel, staff all friendly, my only complaint is that everywhere you went you could smell cigarette smoke, people smoked in the lobby, and the corridors the rooms, even though my room was clearly labeled no smoking everything stunk of cigarette smoke including fresh bedding and towels. this for a smoker would be not noticed, but if like me and my daughters (all nonsmokers) it was enough to put a black cloud over the whole holiday .

I was pleasantly surprised by Alexandria.
I was pleasantly surprised by Alexandria. It is a big, bustling city, and parts of it are very dirty. However, there are so many interesting things to see, and it is pretty easy to get around, I used Uber. It’s a very interesting city, and I recommend giving it at least a few days.
There isn't anything to like about this hotel it was terrible experience starting from the reception when they notice I am American and the scams started going up to the out dated room ..dirty one with no hot water ..no heat ..we were forced to sleep with our clothes on and put on extra layers to avoid the colder weather. They charged me more as I payed in US Dollars and the change was in Egyptian money minus few dollars. This place need to be removed from booking.com site to keep this site for good places only ...
The quality of the room is fine with a big balcony and clean bathroom. Maybe the building of the hotel is old, but it doesn't mean any disadvantage for the guests.
The beach is also very lovely with free sunbeds and towels on the site.
The breakfast was good, it was like in any other hotel in Egypt.
The staff is is very hospitable, so nice people. On the departure day i didn't know how to get to the airport, but the staffs have organized a private transfer for me.
My stay was one of the best between all hotels in Egypt also other countries!
Starting from security, concierge and Reception also Room service!
They made every one like he's the only guest!
Thanks Mr/Ayman for the best complement ,also Mrs/Amna, Mrs/Room services manager and every one!
I found little trouble in the reservation, because of my mistake, but they solved the best!
If you would like to see the hospitality, that hotel is your stay in Alexab
We came to Ithaka Hostel for 2 nights, and didn’t leave for a week and a half. The relaxed vibe, friendly hosts, super clean and bright lit rooms, lovely socializing, and steps away from the corniche made this one of our favourite places in Egypt. If you’re coming to Alexandria don’t stay anywhere else, but be warned, you may not want to leave.
Room was very nice. The man on the reception, I think Mustafa was his name, was very welcoming and helpful. He even prepared us early breakfast when we had to catch our flight in the morning. Breakfast was very good. Comapre to other hotels in Egypt, it was not so cold during the night (we travelled in February).
The Challet is located in a large compound that needs passes to get into. This means that it is very clean, not crowded and not full of the usual pullution you might find in big cities in Egypt. There is also access to food delivered directly to your door and it is two minutes from the beach.
Hotel location is excellent as it is so close to shopping area at the down town and staff was very nice and helpful.
Breakfast was okay although the omelette chef was not that good compared to those of other hotels, I stayed in, in Sharm El-sheikh and other places in Egypt.
The hotel is not much to look at but is centrally sited in downtown making it easy to experience the real life of Egypt with many shops and facilities within easy walking distance. The staff were extremely helpful answering questions about the location.
This was my second stay at San Giovanni and it was amazing. Starting from the hotel entrance everyone meets you with a smile. Everything is elegant.. the people and the place. I'm proud that we have this hotel in Alexandria Egypt.
property was perfectly situated with everything we could need. it was a typical Egyptian apartment but modernised enough to suit western visitors. and really importantly the views are great and the building feels very secure
Extremely helpful staff, special thanks to Mohammed Kholy at the reception, he was incredibly helpful.
The rooms are huge, the hotel is extremely clean and has a great breakfast. One of the best stays we've had in Egypt.
The breakfast was good with many different Egyptian and international varieties. The hotel view is very nice and close to everything you may need. The Concierge was very helpful and hospitable.
The breakfast was good. Serve with hot milk and lots of Egyptian food. The owner was nice texting me to update me on the electricity timing and very understanding as well.
Everything was a perfect experience for a first-time visit to Egypt.
They celebrate my 40th birthday with a pyramids cake.
A very friendly staff. Special thanks to Hani.
Great property with amazing views. Away from traffic noices and adjacent to a monument. Rooms were good with amazing wifi speed (the best ive seen in egypt).
