Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

PortugalThey were not able to give me a receipt for the stay, which was a first for me as a business traveler. Reception said that because I made the reservation via “Booking” the hotel could not issue an invoice, which I found a bit baffling.

United States of AmericaThe rooms are super dark with old dark furniture. The bathroom lighing is pretty bad. The hotel itself is in need of and I believe starting a renovation.
Super comfy bed and pillows. Nice rainhead shower and sprayer. Friendly front desk staff and terrasse bar staff. Great rooftop bar!

Hong KongSome parts of the hotel were being renovated while I stayed in Feb 2024, hope the building works to be completed soon. Parts of the common area eg corridors seemed a bit dim, suggest to adjust the lighting.
Great location in charming Old Montreal, close to many restaurants, cafes and main attractions, highly recommended for first time tourist visit to Montreal. Room was big and warm. Staff friendly and helpful. Love the snacks and drinks at the lobby.

I keep going back to the Nelligan. I visit three times a year. It’s become my home away from home. It is in the perfect location in old Montreal. A lovely small bespoke hotel. Charming. Beautifully appointed. Restful. Cool. Spotless.

CanadaOur room was accessed by stairs, which was difficult to navigate with our stroller. Also, it made it a challenge to bring our luggage, with the luggage cart. The crib they provided was wobbly, so we didn't use it. I could hear the rush of water through the pipes when other people flushed their toilets.
It was a cute, and cozy room. I liked the brick wall.

United States of AmericaNo luggage rack, we were afraid to put our suitcase on the glass top bench at the foot of the bed, although it may be there for that purpose?
Excellent location in Vieux Montreal, short walking distance to all of the attractions and restaurants. Recently renovated modern and nicely decorated hotel. We had a very large room (501), possibly larger than most, it was across from the elevator, which was very convenient. Very comfortable US size king bed with 5 large comfortable pillows. Well-designed room features with reading lights and outlets on both sides of the bed. Large desk and sitting chair with ottoman. Large modern newly renovated bathroom with large walk-in shower. Absolutely the best shower ever with a multi-function shower head (body wash, hand-held and/or overhead rain shower with super water pressure and temperature control). Bathroom shelves to place your things on. Convenient valet parking, but pricey, 48 CAD plus 10 tip for one night. I'm not sure what other parking options there are close by; street parking in front of the hotel is by the hour. Easy designated drop off and loading zone in front of the hotel. Very nice restaurant attached to the hotel, we only had breakfast there, the food and service were very good and reasonably priced.

United States of AmericaWe were disappointed that the beautiful atrium from the pictures was under renovation and the little restaurant was also being done over, We did have a night cap in the adjoining restaurant which was very convenient.
We loved the size of the room, the quaintness of the room, brick walls. The coffee machine was one i was not familiar with and would have been nice to have the directions right with it. The hotel staff was above and beyond helpful. Everyone had a smile and was eager to help. The concierge made dinner reservations for us and im pretty sure helped with my request to have the room in the picture! I would highly recommend, its also on a darling street right in the center of where you want to be in old town.

CanadaThe only thing that was a concern was the gym. The facility itself was great, especially for a hotel gym- clean, well- equipped and at stocked with cold water. As a woman, though, it was unnerving to be in a potentially isolated part of the hotel, in a room with only 1 door, no window and no connection to others if help was needed. Even if a window was cut out, to allow an alternate exit and visibility, it may help. A camera was present I think but notice of a call bell or emergency link would offer a more secure experience.
We did not have breakfast onsite. We were disappointed that notice of the onsite restaurant being closed for renovations was not posted on the website when we booked. We had been there before for brunch and also in the evening and loved the vibe, which was part of why we booked there. The adjacent venue was lovely, it just would have been nice to know that in advance.
