Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandThe staff could have been more kind and helpful, particularly on our arrival and departure to help with the luggage considering that it is a medieval castle with many stairs and long walks depending on the location of the guest room. This kind of service is expected from a hotel of that category.
The Castle is impressive, it has noble facilities with antique decoration and style. The breakfast salon and the restaurant are imposing and beautiful. The lighting in the evening brings a magical touch.

SingaporeThe rooms were carpeted and did not give a clean impression (spider webs, dust etc). Room was getting extremely hot, as there is no A/C. Very slow service to order snacks/drinks - staff were friendly, but clearly could not cope with all orders around dinner time.
Beautiful castle with a swimming pool. Big well maintained grass area - great for playing with kids.

FranceIt is not easy to bring the luggage from the parking to the hotel as the parking lot is at quite a distance and the cobblestones inside the castle court do not call for easy rolling of suitcases. It would have been appreciated if the staff would have offered to help with the luggage. The receptionist of the day was quite sturn in his interactions, and we didn't get a sense of welcoming. The restaurant staff was overwhelmed and did not have the manners and professionalism expected for such a place. Breakfast was of poor quality, given its price. The castle is also located near a very busy railroad, and you can hear the passing trains all day long. Luckily, at night, the traffic is less intense. Mosquito screens on windows will be a good addition, so it is possible to have them open during the night.

IrelandThe shower attachment was situated within the bath with no curtain provided so it was impossible to take a shower without soaking the bathroom. Tiles were missing from the around the sink which is most unhygienic and overall our bathroom was well below the standard of what you'd expect from such a beautiful chateau. Also the taps on the bidet didn't work.
Fabulous old chateau in a lovely location in the Loire Valley. Excellent restaurant with beautiful foods and service for both evening dinner and breakfast. We loved the ancient oak beams in out bedroom.

FranceNothing really, very happy with our stay.
A great property in a gorgeous, peaceful setting. A very authentic experience in terms of staying in an 18th century chateau. The property has its quirks, but they only add to the overall charm. Staff are pleasant and professional, the restaurant is excellent, the wifi is zippy as can be, and breakfast is excellent. Convenient on-site parking.

FranceThe room (« apartment ») we booked was in no way up to the basic standards of such a hotel, nor in any way worthy of the price. The apartment consisted of an entrance, a bedroom and a bathroom accessible through the bedroom. The ‘second bedroom’ was simply a single bed in the entrance, the furniture looked like it was bought in a thrift shop and some of it was in need of repair, there were spider webs throughout the bathroom, even at the foot of the ceramic columns of the sinks, the wood around the tub was worn and in need of treatment ….
The castle itself and the location are both wonderful. The restaurant serves a good meal.

ItalyThe room was in a cavern and it was fascinating, but we hadn’t booked for that. Moreover, it was damp and it didn’t have a proper a/c. We usually don’t need a/c but in that case, with a humidity problem of that kind, you need something! There was a machine for humidity which didn’t work and made a lot of noise.
The place, the design of the room, the outside.
