Felt it was no longer loved. On previous visits, we were warmly welcomed by the owners. Now it is just managed and the staff are not as committed to the property. Paper cups in the room to drink the coffee from and no teaspoon. There were works going on to put new plasterboard on the ceiling on first floor throughout our stay. You can no longer park within the property and have to leave your car outside in a public car park. Restaurant menu was not what is on the website and was disappointing. No rouille for the fish soup! Restaurant staff very good and they made an effort with us as our daughter had prepaid our wine to celebrate our forthcoming wedding anniversary which was a delightful surprise. Hope the new restaurant manager gets a better menu together.

Unique property with great location just half an hour from Cherbourg

We love the chateaux and Bricquebec but were slightly disappointed on this occasion.

On this occasion, we found that despite reassurances, there were no restaurants open - there was only a kebab establishment open which did not look at all inviting and frankly is not for us! We ended up buying a baguette from the boulangerie as there was no other option. Unfortunately, my wife was ill all night after it!! We could not find anyone on reception as the heating in our room was off / not working and we were freezing all night. We think there is an issue with the system as we were told that another customer complained it was too hot - Oh for a bit of that warmth!

Room 10 is always comfy and we always seem to get this room which is great as we know and love it. Staff very helpful as always.

A Great, Convenient, Comfy Stay, Close to the Ferry Port!

    • Stayed 1 night

The restaurants in Bricquebec are no longer open Mondays - Wednesdays on the evenings so eating has to be simple and pre purchased at a boulangerie.

We always stay at the chateau in Bricquebec as it is a beautiful place and convenient for the ferry. Staff are always helpful. We always get room 10 for some reason but it's comforting to know you have a comfy room for your first night. Breakfast is excellent. Although the chateau restaurant is normall closed for evening meals, we were overjoyed to find that it was open on evening, which was all well and good because every restaurant in Bricquebec is closed - a great shame! The food that evening was exceptional.

Room a bit small and tired. Nowhere to put or hang anything in bathroom. Pillows poor but fortunately had our own in car (following two weeks in a gite). But clean and tidy.

Location, handy for Cherbourg ferries but not in Cherbourg. Lots of safe parking and decent restaurant nearby (Le Donjon).

Fabulous to stay in the environment of the castle...dining room in particular is fab. Great continental breakfast. Obviously the rooms aren't modern...but everything is clean. Would recommend no problem. Don't depend on the bar etc being open...no staff in situ in hotel except for to check in and at breakfast. That's fine..as long as you know.b

We arrived to find the hotel had no food and the restaurant was closed, also the breakfast was overpriced for what was on offer, also the the price we booked via booking.com was not what we finally paid as everything including the breakfast AND taxes was subject to a further 10% VAT, which made the price very expensive, poor Sue was unable to elaborate on my querry of this charge, i am presently investigating as to whether this is possible.

The communication was very good and they did ensure someone was there due to us arriving early. We were met by a super lady named Sue, she did everything in here power to ensure we could find food after our journey, at breakfast she was smiling and happy and it made the stay enjoyable.

The room was smaller than expected, moving around was a little cramped. It was clean and tidy but the decoration did not reflect the outside of the building. Paper cups provided for tea and coffee and in the bathroom. We would have expected china or pottery. The restaurant was shut and we had to pay to park as a fun fair was being set up in the town square outside (not the fault of the hotel at all!).

Beautiful location, very interesting building in the heart of the town, close to the ferry port. Breakfast was good and the staff helpful.

The restaurant has been closed recently. Disappointing as we had travelled for a long time and there was very little chpoice of places to eat in the town. The place that we went to was OK but not especially good.

easy parking. Quiet. Nice room. Hot water good. Bed comfortable. Staff quite helpful. Beautiful & interesting old building. attractive surrounding coutyard and garden. easy walk into the town, which had a good delicatssan.

Room needed a complete overhaul. Shower had mold in grouting. Dirty paintwork. No evening Restaurant. No bar. Gluten Free offering VERY VERY poor having notified on booking 4 months ago. Given one very dry GF roll delivered by HAND not even on a plate. Charged for cark parking - when our Booking confirmation stated Free Parking. We will NOT be staying here again.

We chose because of being a Chateau and setting.

Would have benefitted from a functioning restaurant and bar as restaurants mainly closed on Monday & Tuesday evenings. The savior was the DomJon Hotel across the road which was open fortunately.

Staff were exceptional, friendly and helpful. Hotel room comfy, warm with an ensuite bathroom. Wonderful views of the rest of the chateau ruins and an interesting monument to WW11. Easy ample parking. Easy access to the town's boulangerie's and bars.

interior decor needs addressing, bedroom doors are so out of character with the building. restaurant on the first night was buffet, disorganised but the staff were trying really hard, buffet was too expensive for the choices on offer.

great character and history of the castle, parts of the old castle are visible inside the rooms and hallways. Nice location and surrounding area. Staff were friendly and helpful. bed was comfortable.
