Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaAt first, the host was really nice. But later we realized he may have been intoxicated. He spoke Spanish to us and made comments about his English as if he was speaking English the whole time. Later he came into the room and convinced everyone to stay for breakfast despite many people looking to leave earlier for the huge hike across the mountains which he called "easy". He asked if we wanted breakfast which at first I had said no to. Maybe there was a miscommunication (in fact I KNOW there was) but I asked if we had already signed up for breakfast (meaning paid for as we paid for everything through booking.com) and he said we had, pointing to his book. So we stayed for breakfast. Breakfast was fine. I have a gluten allergy and he gave me gluten-free crackers which was kind but I didn't really like them. When we had finished we went to go and a bit up the road he came up to us in his van saying we didn't pay for breakfast. COMPLETE MISTAKE - we immediately took out cash to pay him as this was not our intention. We said sorry a bunch of times and he went in on us about the Camino being about "respect". Totally get it - this is part of his livelihood but the whole interaction was really intense and escalated a bit too quickly in my opinion. He then said that I had left my gluten-free crackers at the hostel and that I needed to leave my bag with my partner, get in the van with him, and go get them because there was "no gluten-free bread in Spain". His hostel was maybe a 5-minute walk away and there was NO REASON for me to get in the car with him ALONE after he had been so MAD at us. It also made me uncomfortable that he told me to go with him alone and to leave my things with my partner. Why couldn't he come if it was such a big deal? I told him I didn't want the crackers and would not be going with him. He was livid. I've since been eating gluten-free bread and pastries in Spain almost every day...
This was a little hard of an experience because at first it seemed really nice. The hostel is a little furhter up the trail on the camino. It's really cute with a beautiful view of the mountains and tons of farm animals to hang out with. All the bunks were clean and comfy.

United KingdomAwesome location, about 30 mins into the Camino. Gives you a nice head start for day one. Super peaceful, great views, a hippy inside / outside feeling to it. Felt so lucky to be staying here for the first night. Just felt so right. Owner very friendly. Breakfast very basic compared to other breakfasts I’d heard about but I’d stay here again in a heartbeat if I were doing the Camino again. Dorms / showers great, but buy food & snacks from st Jean (before you walk up) because you don’t want to walk down again once you’re there.

The gentleman who runs the hostel is very outgoing, friendly and helpful. The location is perfect for any pilgrim walking the Napoleon Route to Orisson or Roncesvalles. I also liked the chickens and ducks that live on the property.

CanadaThe bunk beds were nice and sturdy. I’ve been on the top bunk in several albergues since then, and these were the best so far. The breakfast included is more substantial than what many other alburgues offer. The host loves to tease guests so don’t take him seriously if he says you can’t have something because you didn’t ask in French. :)

United States of AmericaWhile not a ‘dislike’ for me, there are chickens and ducks and all that goes with them on the property. Step carefully. Some of the common areas needed a sweep, but that was minor in compare to the gardens and greenery.
This place is a km or past SJPP - so when starting the Napoleon Way you already km+ into it! But quickly going into town and back is not a quick trip. The place has character and the host is a gem with a quick wit!

United KingdomOn booking.com the breakfast says €4 but I was charged €6 and it was overpriced to be honest - just half a baguette and jam and tea. No fruit unfortunately or anything else. There was 1 yoghurt but I am vegan so couldn’t eat it. However they did buy me oat milk for my tea which was lovely.
Very cute Auberge with lovely views, and great that it’s 1km into the Napoleon route of the French Camino as you skip 1 big hill on your next day hiking! The couple who own the auberge are very friendly and gave me advice about the hike.
