Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SpainWe loved everything about our stay in Chateau des Grotteaux. The interior design of the place, surroundings and the hospitality was really impeccable. We were so well informed about everything even before arriving and Gael helped us have one of the most special weekends with his great recommendations. United States of AmericaThere was absolutely nothing to dislike
In a word: incredible! Everything about our stay in the château was beyond our (very!) high expectations. The owner Gaël was extremely warm and welcoming, and gave a fascinating tour, in English for us. The castle itself was painstakingly and lovingly restored to its former glory, yet had all the modern amenities. Emma greeted us upon arrival and made us feel at home right away. Our room was so comfortable I could hardly bring myself to get out of the bed. But the delectable breakfast made it all worth it! They were so accommodating, they acquired gluten-free bread just for me, and the jams, cheeses, and honeys were so delicious! I loved all the teas and my hubby really overdid it with the espresso machine 😉 Let me not forget to mention that the shower was fantastic and there was a giant soaking tub. We had free use of the common rooms in the castle to read in front of a toasty fire and just relax in quiet comfort. We could hardly believe our good fortune, to stay in such an amazingly beautiful place. Overall, it was a really perfect stay, and we only wish that it could have been longer! Highly recommend!

Beautiful well preserved chateau, amazing historical significance, very clean, delicious daily french breakfast included in the price, very comfortable beds. The chateau owner and staff very friendly and attentive to all your needs ensuring you have the best possible time. I can’t wait to come back and bring my teenage boys. Central location close to the most popular tourist attractions. Because of this very special property, the Loire Valley will ALWAYS have a special place in my heart.

United KingdomNothing really. Be aware of the age restrictions when booking - this is a place for older teens / adults only. Remember that you need to travel out for lunch / supper - this was not a problem. Blois is close by and we enjoyed some wonderful dinners there.
This is a beautifully restored small chateau - managed by the owners who personally greet you and take care of you during your stay. Perfectly located to explore both Chambord and Blois. The interiors are all lovely - excellent bedlinen and very clean. We really enjoyed the buffet breakfast and there is free tea and coffee available at all times. The pool is fabulous - we explored in the mornings and spent the afternoons relaxing. We loved the wine tasting which was organised mid week during our stay. I rarely give a 10 but this very comfortable 'B&B' is so elegant and has a charm all of its own that you should stay if you can. It was a memorable 3 days - I really hope we can return.

The grounds were spectacular! Our room was huge, bed super comfortable; I felt like a queen!! Breakfast was wonderful - croissants, baguette, variety of jams and jellies, local cheeses, meats, yogurt, granola, OJ, cakes, hot beverage. We were given a complimentary tour of the chateau and its grounds wherein we learned so much history of the house and history of France. Our hosts were the best.

CanadaN/A. Everything was great.
Breakfast was excellent and included homemade cakes and preserves, fresh fruit, pastries, meat, cheeses, yogurt and bread just to mention a few. The owner showed a genuine interest in his guests and was more than willing to talk about the history of his beautiful chateau. He spoke multiple languages and made sure that we felt right at home. Upon arrival, we were told that we were allowed to explore the 80 acre property at our leisure. The pool and surrounding area were beautiful. Even though the weather did not cooperate, the owner made sure that the pool was open just for the 2 of us. Wonderful stay. Highly recommended.

FranceIt might be a good idea to equip the shower with a corner shower rack and a handrail. This may only apply to our room, which was the former chapel.
Easy access to major chateaux in the area, quiet and expansive. The owner's tour of the property is a "must"; his knowledge of the historical and geographical aspects gave us a good insight of the region. The couple who owns the place greeted us at the breakfast table and offered advice and help for our visit, which is not the kind of hospitality one would receive from a "hotel". Our lodging for three is in a separate building, so we missed seeing those lovely rooms in the main chateau building as shown on their site. The pool looks lovely but unfortunately we didn't have the time to spend some time there. The Cosson river that runs in the property is a tempting place to fish too.

United States of AmericaOne has to work to find something to complain about. The chateau is in a rural location set amongst some smaller towns, it's best reached by car. If you want to be in an urban setting, this probably isn't your place. But once you enter the chateau's story book setting, you'll immediately understand why the Loire is not best appreciated by staying in an urban setting. Prepare to be a French aristocrat for a couple of days.
Everything. Literally everything. The Chateau is a piece of history (the owner Gael will prove it to you personally), in one of the best locations in the Touraine region one could imagine. You can just hop on one of their bikes and immediately be on the main Loire bike trail. Gael and his staff make it clear that they want to get to know you & enjoy your company, and will personally concierge any activity you could imagine. There are no weaknesses with the rooms, facilities, food, etc. This is a special place run by hands-on owners who are clearly passionate. I've traveled extensively, this easily was among my most memorable stays, & this is not said lightly.

United KingdomIt is difficult to imagine what improvement there could be.
The welcome was excellent in every way; the breakfast (as you ask) as good as we have ever had anywhere in the world, whether in a hotel or other accommodation. The house, swimming pool and furnishings were beautiful, and everything was in exquisite taste. The visit around the chateau and its history - as recounted by the charming, enthusiastic and knowledgeable owners - was fascinating and highly informative. The house has been wonderfully restored, clearly with the same care and attention to detail as is lavished on their guests. Nothing was too much for our hosts.

United States of AmericaAbsolutely incredible hotel!! Everywhere you look, inside and out, is beautiful, gorgeous, and inspirational. The proprietor and the hotel worker were both so helpful, charming, and informational. Do you want to eat an incredible breakfast in a room with wood beams painted in 1620? Do you want to wake up in a high-ceilinged room and look out at a gorgeous river, traversed by an Eiffel bridge? Do you want to drink champagne while looking over a noble grass lawn that slopes toward Chambord? Don’t miss out on this sensational hotel!!
