Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomThe position of the rooms were fine for the time of year we went, but wouldn’t stay in warmer season as u looked out onto cafe courtyard, could have glazed the windows in room and in bathroom as you need to close blinds for privacy which was quite dark. Could do with more ventilation.

Amazing location. Room was spotlessly cleaned each day and condiments refreshed. Fresh apple juice and milk all sourced from the estate was a lovely touch. Friendly host and easy instructions. Will definitely return

United KingdomThe room is on the ground floor and looks out onto the cafe patio - it could do with half height shutters to give privacy from tea drinkers. A second arm chair would be nice
Gardens and grounds are wonderful - lovely to be able to wander freely. Bedroom was comfortable with an excellent bed. Bathroom very good. People were all very nice.

United KingdomThe bedroom was comfortable but very sparsely furnished, to the extent that there was only one chair. We were confined to the room for a time by the extreme weather, which couldn't be helped.
The breakfast was excellent for those who wanted a "full English", but less so for anyone wanting a healthy buffet with fruit etc. The gardens were stunning for the winter season.

Lovely new conversion of outbuildings. Done to a very high specification. Literally in the middle of the most gorgeous English laid out garden. Surrounded by beauty and fresh air. So peaceful and relaxing. Utterly unique setting with matching quality.

United KingdomThe property is poorly signposted and we had to ring up to find where to go.Since there are several potential dwellings near the entrance there needs to be signs to indicate where to go. There was little information available other than a single sheet placed in the room which had the longest B&B guest list of things not to do and financial penaltiesI have ever seen including don't bring alcohol onto the property !!...Perhaps they have had a bad experience of a group bringing in crates of beer and trashing the place in the past. (Weddings..!) However this seems strangely at odds with the BB concept and the tranquil surroundings. Whatever....this is not the kind of comforting welcome one wishes to see upon arrival ! In addition when we asked for possible places to eat unfortunately it was a Tuesday and a number seemed to be shut including one recommended to us.Also there seemed to be little knowledge of what was available in the immediate neighbourhood. Also no invitation from our host who we managed to speak to, re a stroll in the magnificent grounds..that invitation came from the lovely breakfast staff the next morning when we were due to leave....? Overall the Park is beautiful and its gardens are lovely...however it does strike me that this is a private estate run largely as an events business and the rooms are a bit of an add on...There needs to be a bit more of an effort I think on this aspect of the business...or perhaps this was a bad day..?
The breakfast and serving staff were outstanding and the best part of our overnight visit. It was they who gave us information and a map of the property together with the gardener I met. The rooms allow parking next to them. Room was large and comfortable, oddly only one chair ...? The accessible bathroom was also excellent.

A unique stay. You are staying in the grounds of Chippenham Hall. The garden of Chippenham Hall is just amazing. It's huge, and amazingly well cared for. There cannot be many like this in the UK. The room itself was super comfy, and along side the potting garden - which is alive and well - with loads of fruits and veg being grown right outside your window. The breakfast was extremely tasty - and cooked, on the day we were there (I hope for their sake they have help on some days) by the husband and wife team who own the estate and who were really friendly.

United KingdomThe bedroom didn’t seem like it had been cleaned prior to our arrival- we found someone else’s hair in the bathroom, spiders in every corner of the room. The king size bed base was broken, and the finishings were looking very tired. The bed did not feel fresh or clean- I hardly slept as was very uncomfortable. Really disappointing- I have stayed in much better accommodation for 1/4 of the price.
Beautiful grounds and lovely location.
