We weren’t expecting parking to be an issue - would be useful if the hotel info could mention alternative parking, explanation of the zones/times. We were lucky it was a bank holiday so we didn’t need to get up and run to the car before 8.00 am to change the disc arrival time (disc supplied on arrival when requested). Additionally, some zones are for 2 hours and some for 10. There were only 4 or 5 parking spaces allocated for the hotel so it was a matter of searching nearby roads for somewhere - not ideal after a ferry crossing.

Tucked away up a hill surrounded by green space and beautiful buildings, The Duke of Richmond hotel was 10 minutes away from the seafront. Spotlessly clean and polished throughout with informative and friendly staff at the ready to deal with requests - nothing was too much trouble. My room was comfortable with plenty of storage space for luggage - quite the boudoir style - softly padded and upholstered wall treatments with burgundy cricket stripe matched to perfection with the Roman blinds and drapes. I was particularly impressed with the huge collection of original and printed artwork - both in the room and communal areas, restaurant etc. Everything was delightfully elegant, quirky, tongue-in-cheek or all three. A relaxing and fun hotel. The cooked breakfasts were delicious and served with friendly humour. We took a trip around the countryside with #REALguernsey and a ferry hop over to Herm. Will definitely return.

Room wasn’t serviced they forgot. Asked for it done whilst went for a meal instead. However not done again. Not very good. How can they forget to service a room. After a long day desperately wanted a shower but no towels as a result. Also a £5 a day service charge didn’t know about. However, we didn’t have to pay it as problems we had

Staff and rooms. Very nice. Enjoyed stay. Good facilities.

The Head of Operations Ms/Mrs Helen Lenkovska should treat all the guest equally and with the respect. The first 2 minute on arriving somewhere are always the most crucial and every guest should be welcomed with the smile instead of being ignored and looked down on. The guest should never be judged on how they are dressed. The smiling might not come naturally to some people but in the hospitality even if you don’t have personality to be warm and welcoming, you should at least try to make an effort and that’s something Ms/Mrs Lenkovska should work on because at the end of the day the guest are those who keep the hotels in the business, so maybe a welcoming smile on arrival should not be such a chore and a problem. Nicholas in the restaurant, maybe with an extra training could improve and not to question the guest choice of food. We are all different and that should be respected.

The design of the hotel is very quirky and for a moment I felt I was transferred to the South Africa on some safari. I am not a kind of leopard design type of person but it fits to this hotel. It’s like old fashion style with a touch of wildness there with all animals statues around. The food was exceptional. The taste and the quality really was of the highest standard. A huge ‘thank you’ to 2 special ladies which makes this place great. One of them is Jessica at the reception, the girl with great personality, very efficient and really loves the job that she does and that could be felt. You just feel at easy with her around. She really stood out and made my stay memorable for the way she helped and handled things. Hope someone will acknowledge her hard work as she is a huge asset to the hotel. A deserved promotion and payrise. Another lady is Sharone, the restaurant supervisor. Very hard working lady, always smiling, nothing too difficult for her and it’s a such a nice change to see two people like two of them who love what they do and that is not only a job for them, but that they make a difference. Diarmaid McDermott, the Resident Manager for trying to solve all the issues that should be prevented and hopefully other guests won’t have the same problems. It can not be easy to run a place as big as this hotel and mistakes do happen, in my case more than in the case of others but then it makes a difference when the hotel Manager apologise and the apology is sincere instead of being one of those ‘sorry’ they don’t mean a lot and he really tried his best and I appreciate that and I am sure the place will be even better in future with him having an input. Plus the Irish charm always does wonders even when the things are not the way they should be but ‘thank you’ to all 3 for trying to make my stay as nice as possible.

Fantastic stay! I had high expectations but the DOR went far beyond these. The room was beautiful and spacious with lots of great amenities and snacks with a nice view too! The staff were all extremely friendly and really went out of their way to make it a memorable stay, even delivering a welcome treat to my room after I spent a night on Sark. Breakfast was plentiful and I ate in the restaurant twice and both meals were delicious. Will definitely return!

We had been upgraded from the Duke of Richmond but the view from our window was non existent just walls at the back of the building and the noisy air conditioning system. Trip was a birthday gift for my husband so a bit disappointing.

Excellent choice of breakfast, staff were very helpful & friendly. The room was lovely & had an amazing view of the sea. We especially liked the toilet being in a separate room & the blue ceiling light , meant you didn't have to turn a bright light on . Cleanliness of the room was excellent. Reception staff were excellent too, nothing was to much trouble.
