Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

Only down side was the noisy road it was on.
The room was lovely, with quality furnishings and accessories. The breakfast was exceptional and the dog was allowed in the dining room and even got his own sausages!

Firstly Jan was super lovely, very welcoming and helpful. I opted to have breakfast, it was delicious, plus I was always offered biscuits etc to have in my room . Guest house is not far from the train station or the town centre. Really good location. Cleanliness in the whole place was great. My room was lovely, bed was super comfy. Weather was iffy during my stay, so its great that there was a fan and heater in the room for me to use. Was told by people, who live local, that this street during Christmas is beautiful. Check this place out, I have already recommended to family & friends. Loved it!

Finding a space on street parking. Although Permit issued.

There was nothing to complain about.
One of the best Bed and breakfast experiences I've had. The staff were fantastic, from the room to the complimentary breakfast we received. There was no faulting the property! I would highly recommend for anyone looking to visit Northallerton.

We had a wonderful stay here! Jan, who runs the guest house, was so accommodating, really kind and welcoming, and provided us a lovely breakfast. She was really flexible and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. The rooms were lovely, beds comfy and everything was really clean. Thank you!

Everything about my stay I could not find a single fault. The room was very comfortable, the owner was a lovely lady, the breakfast was excellent, a thoroughly enjoyable stay I will be going back.

Fantastic guest house, lovely cooked breakfast, very accommodating host. It was a super-hot weekend with temperatures edging towards 30 degrees- the fan in the bedroom was a god-send, as was the iced water. Great value for money.

Jan was more than helpful as I was travelling up from London and would not be there until ten pm. My train was cancelled and I did not arrive until nearly midnight. I was welcomed as though it was a regular occurrence and nothing was a problem. The Guest House was bright airy and comfortable. The breakfast was good value and very tasty. I will be going back again later in the year. Thank you very much Jan and your staff.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here! Jan is a warm & attentive host who made us feel completely welcome and at ease, including our little dog. The room was clean and comfortable, the property well situated and quiet. And to top it all off the breakfast available is top-notch, a great selection and even the dog is included. We will definitely stay here again and will recommend to family & friends.

Top floor room was a little warm.

The beds were super comfy and the breakfast was superb. We had had a cooked breakfast at Betty's tea house in Harrogate a few days earlier but the breakfast at The Windsor Guest House beat it. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
