Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IndiaStaff could be better trained particularly to deal with foreign travellers. Eg when we checked in, the person at the counter told us there was no restaurant booking available and that we needed to look for food outside. Also he did not inform us of the private onsen. There was also no prior information about the station shuttle and we had to walk all the way with our luggage.
Nice location next to the water with great views across the water of the Tori. The private Onsen experience was great as also the food.

New ZealandEuropean restaurant always closed unless you prebook … you’ll be the only ones there!!!
Wonderful location overlooking the island of Miyajima . Confusing on booking. Com as it says it’s Miyajima but actually is Miyajimaguchi . Don’t stay on gif island, it’s too touristy. Stay here … watching oyster harvesting early in the morning is beautiful . Staff lovely but the restaurant called European is always shut unless you prebook. We did and had a lovely oyster risotto but we were the only ones there . Catch the shuttle to town and eat there …. Walk back as it’s a quick 10 minutes and very safe . We had two excellent meals there . There was no dessert in the italian cafe and they wouldn’t get one from the upper floor cafe !! A little inflexible but always polite . Do have the onsen and prebook the private one for a night … both spectacular. We’d stay again as it’s so easy to visit the island . Climb to the top and gondola down for a great view .

United KingdomCould introduce some vegetarian food options
Immaculate view from the room. Make sure to book the sea viewing rooms. You get to experience the Ryokan style stay. Private onsens are available too on prior booking. Need to book dinner and breakfast prior as well. For vegetarians - no dinner options. Breakfast is still manageable with salads and breads but nothing grand. Shuttle service is provided between the station and hotel. Night cruise - Worth going for. Many reviews highlight rude staff. On the contrary - they were really wanting to help. Language is a barrier and one needs to be patient. They all intend to help but we need to remember Miyajima is a small place - cannot get city like cosmo treatment.

AustraliaThe food. Totally awful. Keep in mind you are not close to a Combini at this location. They are approx 800 - 900 meters one way in either direction. You could use the hotel shuttle bus to travel to the Miyajima wharf, stock up on supplies from the 7/11 and return in the next half hour time slot. There is no room service. Machines dispense limited drinks (including some beer) but we could only locate a machine dispensing ice cream. The Japanese restaurant is really traditional so there were several dishes there which we could not eat. We left there hungry and tried the Italian restaurant stated they were only taking bookings that night, but the place was totally empty of diners and closed very early. The lounge area appeared to close mid afternoon. There are NO other eating options nearby. The breakfast is totally cold inclusive of the bacon, eggs and the most disgraceful mornay oysters. We left the hotel hungry.
I booked the Japanese-Style Superior Room with Sea View. Sea view is amazing and from our room we could see the Tori gate in the distance. A view of the oyster farming beds too with a great view of Miyaja island. The room was huge and we loved the space after other smaller hotel rooms. The futon beds are not set up until night time so the room with tatami mats solely has a low table and low chairs in it with two chairs we could take onto the balcony. It is not a room for total relaxation with the minimalist furniture. The one gentleman who greeted us after check in. His "welcome to our hotel felt really friendly'. The private onsen was amazing with total river side views. It is a working river so boats will come and go past the open onsen but not close enough to feel your privacy has been comprised. We also enjoyed the onsen within the hotel which was really pleasant. The night time cruise takes you right up to the Tori gate and is generous with the amount of time it stays there for photos. The staff tried really hard to assist but we did find that this was one place where English as a second language was a struggle. The room, was pleasantly quiet. I recall a prior review which talked about the hotel being dated in appearance, which is true.

TurkeyThe location was far from the city center and it was really expensive to wage a taxi from the Shinkansen to the hotel.
The room had a great view of the island, unfortunately it was rainy and cloudy during our stay so we could hardly enjoy the scenic beauty of Miyajima.

Hong KongWhile the hotel is peaceful, it is massive and lacked atmosphere during April. The interiors are a bit dated in the bedrooms with clunky A/C. Dinner options are limited in the restaurants, though we opted for bolognese which was tasty. Bit of a ghost town.
The views over to Miyajima were fantastic from the hotel lounge, bedrooms, restaurants and onsen. This was very peaceful. The free shuttle bus service made it easy to get to the ferry and train. There were good options for breakfast, both Japanese and western options. The staff on the front desk were very friendly and helpful.

United KingdomStaff struggle a bit with English. Took the 30 minute night cruise to the shrine and the guide spoke Japanese throughout! Restaurant was closed early, no idea why. Struggled with the breakfast as a vegetarian.
The views from the room balcony are amazing. Nice to have a shuttle service to the station. Hotel fine, maybe a bit dated.

JapanThe staff were not friendly nor helpful. They were very put off by the fact that I live in Japan and questioned having a residency card rather than a passport. You can book rooms that include breakfast and/or dinner, but it is not made clear that if you opt out from one of them, you are not able to walk in like you would in any hotel restaurant. At the end of my stay, I asked for help at the front desk getting a cab to which they said they couldn't help me.
Location in terms of Miyajima island and the ferry was very convenient: an easy 10-15 minute walk to the ferry. Make sure you get a room facing the island, as the sunrise is stunning if you have the good view.

SingaporeThe night cruise. Not sure if they did not forsee and foreigners who do not understand Japanese. The cruise trip was fully done in Japanese and I don’t understand a word from the guide. Sad but overall is still fine.
I got myself the sea view room. View is fantastic! Room is big and comfortable. The shuttle bus service is punctual and it surely eases my trip to the train station. The frequency is also suffice! The Japanese style breakfast for my first day was great! Very exquisitely done and delicious! The private onsen is highly recommended! I love the privacy and the view. All the staff at reception and souvenir shop are all very friendly and helpful, especially the staff named Chen at the reception.

AustraliaThe taps in the bathroom were slightly leaky and the central heating system was really inconvenient. As someone who prefers to sleep in colder temperatures it wasn’t a great rest.
Great staff and free shuttle bus from Miyajimaguchi Station running every 30min (bus is in parking lot to the right when exiting station). Amazing traditional style dinner and buffet breakfast included in price as well!

SingaporeHotel is not that new so some minor details are ‘a bit old school’. But that’s fine if you take it as ‘traditional’. There are some parts they spruce up.

Hong KongYou have to walk around the room to switch off all the lights, which brings you back to the life in 80s; The control for the air conditioning is a bit challenging; there were so many grandpa and grandma in the hotel during my stay, which I had nearly nothing left for breakfast when I got to the restaurant at 8:30am 🤣
Read some bad comment from the internet, but I think the hotel is much better than what I expect. Free shuttle from JR station, take around just 5min; staff at shuttle, front desk and restaurant are all helpful and polite; an old hotel with 80s styled lobby, but the facilities are well-kept or renovated; room is old, but the bed, furniture and toilet are all ok and clean; they provide new hair dryer and USB ports in the room, I think that is very considerate; great sea view; nice onsen

AustraliaKeep tables aside for hotel guests. The hotel attracts big tour groups so I was not able to eat in the restaurant until a later booking.
The hotel is old style but charming. The views from the water side rooms are spectacular so I highly recommend booking an ocean view room. In fact you can see the famous floating torii from the room but also from the fabulous outdoor deck. The sunrise was gorgeous. I appreciated the minibus that takes you directly to the station (and ferry to Miyajima island). I also recommend the excellent evening boat cruise to see the Torii at night. A truly magnificent sight.
