Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Canada- Bathroom requires some maintenance (bathroom sink drain half blocked, shower hose broken). - Broom and dust pan should be provided, to help clean the apartment sometimes
Location is great, however the people on the plateau on the other side of the street were really scary

Netherlandsthere are an couple of things to improve or be better informed before your stay. (we read that there are drugsdealers in the street, but we did not realize that they will be standing before your window The side table (made of glass) was broken. It was still standing in the room. There were no sharp edges but you can not use it or it wil break for sure. I think with staying with an 6 year old child this is not safe. We stayed in the “WINE” room. You could not open an window (or curtain) because the homeless people and drugs users opposite of the street will look you strait in the eye. They also make a lot of noise in the night. and make there drug deals under our window. (our room was at streetlevel) this room is not good for renting. The rooms on the other side of the hall might be better.
The beds slept good, the bathroom was clean. kitchen was good. easy to check in with codes.

HungaryTwo days earlier, they deducted the price of the room from my account. This is understandable as there are no staff at the hotel. But why pay the city tax separately a few hours before arrival. Why couldn't this be combined with the accommodation fee? If you don't have a smart phone or you don't have the internet, are you standing in front of a locked hotel? It's a stupid exercise.

ItalyI would have appreciated probably a bit more space, but it was allright considering the time we spent in the flat. The only negative point was the area down the street, there was often a group of drug addicts. They never caused any problems, i just thought i wouldn't have felt safe if i was on a trip with female friends.
We loved the position, very central and near facilities. The bed and the pillow were really comfortable.

United States of AmericaThe uphill walk is the least of the problem. It’s having to walk by an old fish market with foul odor and a homeless encampment that made us uncomfortable. I rarely leave bad reviews but this one is the honest truth. The property managers were very good to help us with a solution so that we appreciate very much.
Nice modern apartment with new furnishings. The management team is very good and responsive. I would rent from this group again but a different location.

ItalyThe bed and pillows were very hard, but this can be personal choice. The fact that is on top on hill, not so easy to do with luggages (we did it on a rainy day) and the surroundings! I wish I had read the reviews before booking it. As soon as we arrived on that hill I felt a bit worried, there was a lady was staring into space, and 10 meters away some drug dealers. We then entered in the apartment but we decided to leave it 10 minutes later since didn't want to experience anything after the sunset.
I liked the staff, very friendly and helpful in the days before arrival, we asked also if they could store our luggages on the first day before having a look at the city, we didn't get there since it was raining cats and dogs but went directly at the apartment after check-in time; they welcomed us with a bottle of wine (we didn't have the time to drink, unfortunately). The apartment itself is modern, even if the palace is very old and dilapidated, and is in a central area, couple of minutes walking from Sao Bento station.

PortugalPeople doing drugs just outside the Guest House. Very bad street environment. Not very safe, so I kept windows shut, since the studio apartment is located on the ground floor. Which means there wasn't much of a view in my perspective. I also had a feeling of dread when I was out because I was concerned that thugs could break into the apartment and take my stuff. In terms of cleanliness and maintenance, the floor was dirty, towels were as well. Bed lights were not working. Bathroom looked like a prison cell. Unfortunately I will never come back.
The bed was comfy. Apartment very close to city center.
