Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

We expected a view and a bathtub in the bathroom based on the pictures however it wasnt the case.

The location is great, right across the street from the river and the ferries to the beach. Tavira is nice in that you are not a long walk from the town center and restaurants on the other side of the river. Room was comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast was good, with the usual selection of pastries, meats and cheese, plus eggs and bacon.

The breakfast was adequate, but not exceptional.
Loved Tavira! The hotel was comfortable, clean and had a lot of charm. Our room was large enough and the bed was great. The staff were exceptionally warm and helpful.

We stayed for 7 nights end of March into April. The hotel is perfectly located to both explore the town and the surrounding area. Our room was river facing and was suitable for a 7 night stay and cleaned daily. The beds were super comfy and the shower was really good. We would definitely recommend a stay here.

There is no elevator and lots of stairs. This wasn't an issue for us, but something others may need to be aware of. Also, the bathroom is a tight squeeze, with the toilet located behind the door (this would be colorful for a very tall person) and few available spaces to set down your items.
A quaint hotel in a historic building full of interesting wood work and Portuguese tiles and art. The hotel is located right on river, easy walking distance to nearby shops and restaurants, and close to a large free parking lot. Our room was clean and comfortable, with fresh, clean, high quality linens on the bed, and with a large balcony overlooking the town. The room was quiet, dark, and comfortable at night. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful - a real pleasure. The best part of all was the breakfast which is served in the adjacent restaurant - eggs, bacon, yogurt, fruits, etc. What a treat! We would stay here again for sure.

I had notified the hotel prior to our visit that we would require a gluten free breakfast and this was acknowledged by the receptionist when we checked in. However this information had not been passed on to the kitchen staff.
Lovely central location. Ferry for the island beach departs from just outside the hotel and the old town and castle are only a short walk away . Good price and helpful reception staff.

The pillows were not particularly comfortable- a bit lumpy.
Lovely location on the river. Friendly, helpful staff. Excellent breakfast. The room was very clean and the shower was a good size with good water pressure. We had an early check-out but the staff kindly provided a takeaway breakfast which we collected on our morning of departure.

We had room 100 which was the first room at the top of the stairs and all other residents had to walk past our door. This couldn't be helped as the room was so placed to provide a view of the river. Quieter rooms may be to the rear of the property with no view of the river.
The lady that met us at reception was very welcoming and made us feel at home. Breakfast was excellent with sufficient selection, nice and fresh and well cooked. The room had a lovely view over the river and was clean and well equipped with a small fridge and TV.
