Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandWe are a couple and got two single beds in two rooms, our mistake but worth while considering if you dont want any arguments with your wife 😊
The stay was ideal for us, not right in the city center which was easily reached. Got the timing right for the annual students party. Quiet, being downstairs we would book a room upstairs with views next time.

AustraliaNot a fault of the Guest House but we were there in May when all the Uni Students were celebrating until 3 and 4 o’clock in the morning so quite noisy. Loved seeing the students singing and performing during waking hours but they did wake us up often at night.
Good location- Coimbra is very hilly so walking anywhere involved lots of walking. Lovely old building with lots of charming features. Helpful staff - gave us lots of good information about restaurants etc

United States of AmericaNothing, really, especially once we realized we didn’t have to go all the way down the hill and back up to get to the university! Only issue was with not getting breakfast, as promised by Booking.com, which may be a misunderstanding on our part somehow.
Comfortable bed and room. Nice indoor and outdoor spaces. Beautiful old building

PortugalIt's very noisy and far, esp. when walking around in the heat or rain. Also the building used to belong to the Dictatorship's International and State Defense Police, they could put up a plate in the front to be informative to the country's memory.
It's a beautiful and breezy building, very comfortable. The breakfast is included and the staff is friendly. We only stayed one night so my experience might be limited.

RussiaCoffee and juice at breakfast were terrible. It was a bit strange that we had a bathroom but you need to go to the corridor to get there, not really convinient, but this is the construction of the building. We did not like the room for 4 people. First of all, the walls in the corners were with big dark spots, they should be updated (attaching the photo). Then there were a lot of wardrobes with no shelves and no hangers, you could put your clothes on the floor actually. The bathroom was really cold. The glasses in the rooms were dirty. Overall, I think it is pricy for what we got.
We like the location: it is close to the center but not IN the center. So the roads are wider and there are free parking places around. It is 7-10 minutes by taxi to get to the center. The staff was very plesant and helpful, the reception man gave us recommendations and made our stay more comfortable. We booked 2 rooms and we liked the twin room. It was cozy and comfortable. There were heaters in the rooms. The breakfast was nice: bacon, eggs, pastry, yogurt, etc. The bathroom and bed linen were clean. The hotel has an amazing view of the city. We also liked that they have their own bar where you can a glass of wine for 3 eur.

Fantastic greeting and check-in. Our host talked us through all of the highlights of Coimbra, whilst showing us on Google Maps and drawing on a physical map. His food recommendation was also top notch!

United States of AmericaThere was very little I didn't like. The staff was helpful but not particularly friendly. There were some language barriers that we worked through.
I loved the mid century modern vibe of the furniture. It was chic and the common rooms were wonderful to connect with other travelers. The breakfast was exceptional and the location was central to Coimbra.

United KingdomNothing really. It might get a little noisy if there are big groups (which we didn't experience during our stay) because the bedroom doors are not heavy and you can hear the stairs' floorboards and people talking from other rooms.
The Luggage is hosted in a nice traditional house with nice views over the old town. Our twin room was simple but functional, relatively spacious with high ceiling, beds were comfy. Bathroom was private but outside (~ opposite) the bedroom, and it had a good shower. Breakfast was self-service and decent, with fruit/ham&cheese/pastries/etc, and nice views from the indoor breakfast room. We left early in the morning (at around 6 AM) to catch an early train but the host prepared some generous breakfast the day before and left it in the kitchen for us to take away, which was much appreciated.
