Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomTv did not work and there needed more sockets in the room. The receptionist didn’t speak good English so it was hard to communicate.
Simple room, clean, good size with a balcony. Amazing value for money and in the best location

Quiet location in the old town. Plenty of options for good, cheap food around. Spotlessly clean. Sweet welcoming staff. The balcony was a plus, small but private. Wonderful shower and hot water. If you are looking for authentic, cheap food, we recommend the wooden market. The Khoa Soi was delicious, authentic and only 60 Baht. There is even a genuine massage parlour opposite. I had a 1 hour coconut oil deep massage for 450 Baht.

CyprusThe WiFi was pretty bad, most of the times we used mobile internet because nothing would load. The water was never hot in the shower, just about the shower temperature (or maybe I didn’t figure out the heater). The balcony didn’t lock.
Great location in the old town, but in a quiet street. There are restaurants, massage places and shops near by. The room is spacious with a balcony and big bathroom. You need hotel key card to get into the building so we felt safe. There was always someone available downstairs for questions etc. elevator in the building, cleaning service available. overall good value for money

United States of AmericaNothing about the hotel but Chiangmai air is very polluted and big vans shouldn't be allowed in the narrow streets
Great location in the old city near Tapae gates.. very good value , secure and safe, clean ... a little balcony outside the room was pleasant and a clothes drying rack very handy. ... kettle available on request . One could stay there a long time as many of my friends have been doing.

United KingdomWe just found It super noisy in the morning, were woken up both mornings by people chatting loudly in the corridors, the cleaners (just doing their jobs which we appreciate) but each room seems to have a window on the corridor side which is not sealed, it let's all sound from outside in. Quite bizarre this is in a hotel but it was maybe something different before it was a hotel? I will include photo of it. The evenings are quiet but the two mornings are sadly not :(
Amazing location, it's close to some fab restaurants and massage places. Try out the Hummus place around the corner. Seriously good food! Very clean, polite and friendly staff, little balcony, pleasant bathroom

ThailandThough it's walkable distances to restaurants nearby, it's located in such a way that we have to get through small alleys to reach there. This made it quite confusing for some cab drivers to find the hotel.
Very quiet and peaceful. And really clean, big, comfortable rooms. Has a balcony which was great. The staff was pleasant.

United Kingdomit’s quite noisy, not anything in particular but the noise travels around the building due to the layout.
the property is perfectly located in the beautiful city of Chaing Mai. it’s close to all the amenities, highly recommend the massage next door! although dated it is exceptionally clean. the mattresses are softer than normal but comfortable enough. the owners and staff were super helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

United States of AmericaThe shower pressure was low but just took a longer shower to solve that issue. The walls are thin but no one made any noise, so it was always quiet.
The location was wonderful. Multiple food options, convience stores, and pharmacies within a 5 minute walk. The elevator/lift was nice. The internet worked great for me. It was quiet my entire 15 day stay. I would stay here again!

AustraliaFor the first few days the lift wasn't working, and it certainly put my old joints to the test to get to my floor. These things happen though, not the fault of the hotel!
Boonthavon is a great hotel right in the thick of the Old City. The rooms are immaculately clean, if a little dated. Like most of SE Asia, the bed is on the firm side, but otherwise comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and supportive, I wouldn't hesitate to come back on my next trip.

United KingdomIt would have been nice to have a kettle in the room. The bed was a bit hard, but it seems to be the norm in Thailand.
The landlady is incredibly nice and helpful. She always offered to have the room cleaned, and tried to help us with anything we asked despite the language barrier. We were allowed to use the water cooler to fill up our reusable bottles, instead of using the plastic ones that were provided with the room. Even though there was no kettle in the rooms, she offered hot water every morning for our morning coffee.

United States of AmericaThis hotel is older and dated and the room is not air tight. There are screened openings in the bathroom wall concrete for air, so you have to keep the bathroom door shut to keep the AC in the room. The windows and walls are thin so easy to hear noise from the hallways or outside. The beds were hard like in the rest of southeast Asia and there was only a not-so-soft blanket on the bed, but no top sheet or duvet cover.
This hotel was nicely located within the city walls, a short walk from several temples, massage places, tailors, shops, and restaurants. The price was affordable and there was free parking on the bottom floor under the hotel near the reception desk. The area seems safe, but they still close the gate at night and during the day, there is always a staff/family member there to help with tight parking. The staff are very friendly and the hotel was pretty clean and quiet with AC, private bathroom, and small balcony. Basic toiletries (shampoo and bath gel) were provided. Towels were provided but no hand towels or washcloths. We didn't try the TV but there was one.
