Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

SwitzerlandI only changed accommodation because I wanted to stay a bit more central as a solo female traveler. I didn't like the entrance to the hotel at night cause it seems far off and dark but I think it's just me. I doubt Chiang Mai is really unsafe so I think this hotel has a good location for solo travelers if you want your peace and quiet.
The owner and staff was very helpful and friendly. I loved the spacious room's charme. There were less mosquitoes than expected as the door is not fully shot. The pool was amazing to escape the heat.

Czech RepublicThe beds could be slightly softer for me, but this is a personal preference and did not take away from the excellent experience.
Pool is great, staff is great, the atmosphere is the perfect place to chill in. We ended up extending our stay directly with the property for a week because we like it so much!

GermanyI stayed here for two nights while exploring Chiang Mai. It's a very beautiful, old style place with great details. I really enjoyed my stay here. Unfortunately, I had no time to use the pool. It's about 10 min. walking from the old city. Communication with the staff was a bit difficult due to them not speaking much English.

NetherlandsEntrance of the hotel was around the corner, not on the busy street, as you would expect from Google Maps. Make sure to walk around the corner to the entrance of the hotel. Pool was very cool, but we still liked it Our room was somewhat dark, which is nice at night, but during the day you needed to turn on the lights. Restaurant was closed
The front desk lady was amazing. We texted her at 6 in the morning, as our bus arrived 1hour too early in Chiang mai. We could already enter and rest in a room, before our room was free. Moreover, the lady wants to help you with everything, she will give you tips and book services with discounts for you. She was the one that made our stay amazing. The room was enormously spacious and the style of the entire hotel is amazing, it looks so cool! There’s a really good coffee place across the street. Walking distance from night walking street and city centre.

United KingdomThe Colonial House does not offer breakfast but there are several good cafes offering breakfast very nearby. It's a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre (ie to the moat) along a road with rather uneven footpaths.
This place has lots of character. The accomodation is in a group of old buildings, in Lana style. Our room was one of the larger ones with a separate study/dressing area, and there was plenty of storage space. Dark wood paneling and dark furnishings made the room quite dark - but we only worked out how to turn the main light on just before leaving! Note that the front entrance is only open when the restraunt is open, otherwise you have to go round to the rear entrance. Also the street is closed for a street market on Friday evenings. It's a great street market, very extensive, going right the way into the town centre.

GermanyAmazing location just outside of the city walls. The room was clean and in a typical colonial style. The staff was lovely and extremely helpful with everything. They helped us arranging excursions as well as the taxi to the airport for convenient prices. Will definitely stay here again for our next trip on Chiang Mai

ThailandThe bed was comfy but pillows a bit thin. The suite is closer to the road and as it is an old house, we got some road noise
This is a beautiful boutique room in a traditional house. We stayed in the suite and the decoration and furniture transported us back in time. The location is close enough to the old town to make it easy to get a grab.

FranceWe only spent one night in this hotel but it was very pleasant. It was the best hotel of our road trip. We were welcomed like kings. Kaa is so kind, attentive to our needs, always available. Very clean, very typical hotel with crazy charm, which differs from other hotels. The restaurant is very delicious. Exceptional staff. Incredible adventure. Thank you very much Kaa.

ChinaThe bed is awful. I could clearly feel the hard metal strips of the mattress, which was really uncomfortable. The room is compact and dark with so many decorations, too. But this is not a big problem.
The hotel is well-decorated with a unique dark red style. We really like it! It is on the way of the Saturday night market, a funny place to go, and next to the silver temple. The restaurant serving Northern Thailand food is also fabulous. Being very proactive and friendly, the owner recommended local restaurants for us, which was very helpful.
