Each review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Some staff members were kind of unfriendly. Price seems high for what you get, but I guess that's what you pay in the city.
Awesome central North Beach location, right across from City Lights bookstore and near many bars and restaurants. I managed to find street parking nearby, but there are also garages. Room was basic and adequate. Even though it's a really busy area, our room was quiet.

If you not planning to stay all day at room, it is okay to crash night there. Great location 15 minutes walk to beach or downtown. Plenty of restaurants around. Good price/value

Bear in mind the streets nearby are quite lively. Also, it’s a 1-star (or perhaps 2-star) hotel so don’t expect golden taps, silk bedsheets and caviar for breakfast.
The location of the hotel is perfect, there are so many cafes and restaurants in the vicinity. The staff was friendly and helpful.

They don’t change the towels or clean the room. Also there weren’t any blanket and was a little bit cold. The front desk people, not the nicest. The room smell like someone was smoking in there before. No elevator.

The rooms are well designed, but lack standard amenities like glasses. Also: A proper duvet for the bed would be helpful for the colder nights.

The two women's toilets had big issues on the first floor - one just swirled your mess around and didn't flush, and the other one that did flush was leaking toilet water on the ground permanently so you had to straddle the water to use the only flushing toilet. There is a strip club below the hotel or something so the noise is superrr loud the first night you hear it, then you get used to it the other nights and people in the street are more annoying and loud. But you get what you pay for and I would still recommend it for the price LOL.
You get what you pay for: The location is awesome. The area feels totally safe. Heaps of restaurants, cafes and people around. Easy walk to Fisherman's Wharf. Bus stop out the front can take you to the train (BART) and then from there to the airport. I really liked that there was a sink in the room so I could use that without having to use the bathroom one for face/teeth/refill water etc. Other things are left to be desired...

The hotel smells BAD. No room cleaning. High stairs to get to reception. Very noisy surroundings. Place full of strip clubs around, not the best atmosphere at night.

very poor decoration in the room, there was no place to hold jackets or the shampoos in the bathroom.

Cleanliness of the rooms could be improved.

It would need refurbishment, especially isolation-wise as the street is very noisy. Also the bathrooms doors were broken.
Good for value, kind staff and excellent location, the room was clean and the shared bathrooms were okay. overall, I did not expect it to be so good so it was rather a good surprise !
