Only downside is not getting the room we booked well in advance (almost 10months before our trip) no communication about that room not being available or not being told on the day that the room we booked wasn't the one we were getting. Other than that, everything else was great, not really a family kind of vibe or for fit for a family of 5

It is far from other LA attractions.

I loved it. I stayed in a nice hotel in downtown prior to HI hostel and I liked the hostel way more. The location is great, very close to the beach with a lot of places to eat around. There was a lot of young people in the neighborhood. I felt way safer than when I stayed in downtown, where I would see only homeless and creepy people walking in the street. The hostel had a cute decoration and was clean. The breakfast was nice as well. People were quiet. The staff were helpful.

I liked absolutely everything! I had already stayed at the HI in NYC and loved the experience, so I expected to have a good experience at the HI in Santa Monica too. The receptionists were very friendly, I really enjoyed the breakfast. The bed was very comfortable, there were two pillows and the locker was a great size.

It’s kinda weird that you have to wash your own dishes after breakfast. But great that they have breakfast at all!

I’m staying second time at this hostel, it’s beautiful! Clean and comfortable, common areas are great, they even have fireplace in the lobby! They have free events in the hostel for everyone which is nice. The comedy show was really cool! I’m not even thinking of other place to stay in Santa Monica.

I feel like HI hostels are usually bigger and more anonymous than small hostels that are not a chain. Everything is regulated, less personal.

Close to the beach and the station. Breakfast was better in other hostels. Facilities are great: Big kitchen, light and sockets with every bed.

I only spent one night in a female dormitory bunk bed with ensuite bathroom and everything was clean, comfortable and safe. The property is a few yards from bus stop 3, connected with LAX Airport. As an alternative, they offer a $ 30 flat rate taxi to the airport. The location is just a few minute walk from Santa Monica Pier. Fresh options for breakfast, also suitable to vegetarians/vegans, are included and a well-equipped full kitchen is available in the common area. Very attentive to waste recycling and environment and to people with reduced mobility. Free entertainment events at the weekend.

The shared bathrooms should be cleaned more frequently, especially during the morning and evening peaks.

The Hostel is located in a nice street, very close to all the main attractions. The room is clean, with large lockers and the common areas are very comfortable.

Very cozy place to stay. No crazy party hostels animals here. Each room is very clean and quiet. Very peaceful sleep you can have. People stay here is quiet and have good vibe. Very good free breakfast. It’s real breakfast you can have. Good energy to start a day from here.

Very clean place and very friendly staff. This place is run very long time here and very good standard hostel method. No smoking, no alcohol, no drugs. There are 24/7 free coffee and hot water to have own drinks. Huge professional kitchen like real restaurant size. 10 huge refrigerator, stones, ovens etc… Located central Santa Monica, easy to walk to beach day and night. Nice to walk around residential area as well. Also they let me stay lobby area after check out to do some work with wifi and have drinks. Very friendly place to stay. No crazy drunken hostel peoples here. Safe to stay here with kids as well.

The rooms are very small for 4 people but if you have a lot of activities to do you won't be in the room other than to sleep

The space was very comfortable, it's ideal if you travel alone and you don't mind sharing!
