Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaThe balconies in both of my rooms were shut closed due to construction. I did not see or hear any construction.
Love the location. Love the ambiance. It is my second time staying at this hotel. My wife loves the Spa there.

United States of AmericaThe bathrooms were a bit small along with the pool area. But then again you are there for the beach.
Extremely friendly and helpful staff. Great location right in the heart of Waikiki. Walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. They kept the beach clean even after tons of tourists use it every day. Beautiful old main building with a huge Banyon tree in the middle of the terrace bar area.

AustraliaLike Oahu in general the food was overly expensive. However we don’t go to Hawaii, or the USA, for the food (or more correctly the scarcity of real food).
Wonderful in every way.

CanadaThe amenity fee is extremely high, doesn’t even provide a beach chair. Unfortunately the grounds are not monitor so the seating is taken up by passersby.
It’s gorgeous, right on the beach. Has a pool but the seating is limited, I was not able to use it.

SingaporeNo space in the shower booth to put your own shampoo/bath wash. Side table between the rocking chairs was not provided as per photos.
The property felt so much like home instead of a hotel. We made use of the tables and chairs at the lobby to have coffee bought from Honolulu Coffee and enjoyed the breeze. Our room was spectacular, facing the Pacific Ocean and palm trees. Every night we slept to the sounds of waves crashing in. The toilet was a good size, not too big or small. Appreciate the walk-in shower instead of a bath tub which sometimes can be quite hard to get into and out for the elderly. We took less than 3 minutes to walk out to the beach and was there 6am-9am every day before the sun kicked in and got too crowded. In the late mornings, we would explore, eat and shop. In the afternoons, we would come back to the hotel and sat on the rocking chairs in our room to enjoy the breeze coming in from the balcony and then make our way to the many beach bars around the hotel. All the major malls, bus stops and trolley stops are within walking distance. Will definitely be back again!

United States of AmericaThe room was smaller than what I expected. We got a room with a king bed. Just enough space to walk around the bed. The bathroom was also small with a standup shower that leaked onto floor every time we showered. Informed housekeeping and was given extra towels to soak up the water.
Great location. Friendly staff members. Restaurant/dining options on property is a plus.

United States of AmericaComing to hotel with huge expectations to hang out on are balcony and finding out we couldn’t use it the whole trip due to a balcony falling earlier in the week. It ruined my wife trip because that’s something she loves to do and it was taken away from her.

United States of AmericaVery disappointed that we weren't able to use the balcony. We do "beach" vacations quite often and the balcony is where we like to enjoy our morning coffee and also evening views of beach/sunset. One of the reasons we booked the partial view room was to at least see the water from our balcony.
Very comfortable room.

United States of AmericaOur room was quite small and faced the street (it was loud at times)!
The Moana Surfrider is a beautiful hotel, with all the pleasures of an updated resort with incredible charm! The room we stayed in was quite small, and I do not recommend facing the street as it can get very noisy. Nonetheless, we would absolutely stay here again!
