Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWe've stayed here before and would definitely stay again. We prefer not to stay in chains and this motel suits us fine. The Queen Rooms / 2 beds are in a separate annexe, further back from the road through town so are presumably quieter and have large parking spaces. The owners are friendly and helpful, the room is large, clean, the plug in the bath works and the water is hot. Fridge/freezer and microwave in room, table and 2 chairs - always surprised how many places only have one chair. Our towels were changed and our bins emptied after our 1st night of 2 without us asking - thank you. In the centre of this small town so easy access to the town facilities and if you are lucky enough to be here when the road up Mount Whitney is open, a great place to walk.

United States of AmericaWell, the motel is old. I'm gonna guess the main building was built in the forties and the annex was built in the sixties (just guesses). As a result they have been modified to keep the infrastructure current, but the modifications are not finished well. Sloppy paint here and there and the putty and caulking around the tub is poorly finished.
I have stayed at the Portal for over thirty years when I go on fishing trips to the eastern Sierra. Lata, the owner, is warm and friendly. The motel is conveniently located, fairly affordable, and offers great views of Mt. Whitney from the parking lot. There is a small refrigerator in the room to keep my beer cold and a small freezer part in the refrigerator to freeze my trout before the long trip back home through the desert. There is a little coffee pot in the room, with coffee, which is something I don't find in the Las Vegas hotels.

Good location on the main street of Lone Pine alongside the restaurant and bars. Comfortable beds. Convenient parking right outside the room.

United States of AmericaTraffic noise from Hwy 395, can't really fault the Motel for that.
Recently renovated room, nicely furnished and with good king size bed. Clean shower and bathroom, mini kitchen with fridge, microwave and coffeemaker. Felt like 5 stars after a long day outdoors.

SloveniaIt's quite close to the main road but we slept really well.
It's ideal for starting the journey towards Death Valley. There are some restaurants and a shop in the town. You can also visit Alabama Hills that are nearby.

United States of AmericaThe motel is off a busy road, so you can hear the large semi trucks driving by throughout the night. The bed was also a little more firm than I typically like.
The woman at check in was very efficient and friendly. The room was extremely clean. I’ve stayed quite a few places during my travels and this room was one of the cleanest, even compared to the bigger “nicer” hotel chains.
