Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaDid not like the $35 food charge that was difficult to use daily. The breakfast buffet was $40 a piece, too expensive. And the little market was closed several days. We did use it to have drinks one night in the lounge which was a terrific experience. We were not interested in taking advantage of the destination fee.
The room was comfortable. Concierge service was excellent. Location was amazing in the heart of Times Square and near the theatres and restaurants. Rooms were cleaned everyday, something that is rare these days in hotels.

Hong KongThe new york destination fee scam is active here. No written rules made available. Staff give at least 3 different rules to each issue. I was told the daily cut off time for destination fee was midnight, when the bar closes and midday. Charges made to my credit card for items covered by prepaid destination fee. No clarity whether destination fee allowances are at person or per room (ie seems very different approach to bar allowance and bottled water allowance). No clarity whether tips added to bar bill are covered by destination fee. Nonsense excuses about maintaining a usd100 credit card preapproval per night, but it never reduced when consumption was less than usd100 per day. Seems no rules at all for use of destination fee across multiple rooms booked under one credit card (ie 2 rooms each with same destination fee fee allowance used by 3 people who split the bar bill 50/50 across each room). The basis of the destination fee scam is to use purposeful ambiguity to create fear that ensures no guest uses the uncertain allowances for the bar or restaurant or bottled water. While the hotel is expert at playing the destination fee scam, i would expect booking.com to just be honest and call it as it is (ie an extra compulsory room charge).
The location and the size of room.

SerbiaWe did not like that we were not informed that the hotel reserves some money in advance. So, we were surprised with such information because usually we all plan to spent certain amount of money. Also, we were not immediately informed that the bottled water was included in the price of the room so, at the beginning we used to buy some in the store.
Location is very good. Hop on hop off bus is just in front of the hotel in 7th av. The dinning room have view on times square, room and the bathroom are big enough and clean. Since we didn't have the our meals in the hotel we can not say anything about the food.

Slovakia__ Probably my mistake in choosing the room. There were 4 of us and for 4 people the room was extremely small for 7 nights. __ Also on floor no. 22, the smell was spreading from the street with the window open. Which I was really surprised about.
Pleasant smell in the hotel. Pleasant staff

SloveniaThe hotel is dated and there are issues with noise. Our room had windows with most of the insulation gone or hanging from the window edge. After moving to a new room, the noise was manageable but not as good as some other rooms we checked. The restaurant was closed for private events 2 days of our 5-day stay.
Nice hotel with very professional and helpful staff, fabulous views from the restaurant and great beds.

United KingdomThe hotel is getting tired, bathrooms in particular very old fashioned. This hotel in common with many now in US charge a destination fee of $35 per night, which as far as I can ascertain is non-negotiable. I really really dislike this - just give me one room rate and let me decide how I want to spend the rest of my money. It’s just another way of charging customers more.
The staff were amazing, always helpful and polite.

United States of AmericaThe air freshener in lobby was so awful and overwhelming yuck!! The bathroom light was automatic and would shut off on you in the shower. And the depressed sheep in cages outside the elevators on room floors made us sad :-(
Fantastic location! The room was surprisingly quiet. Very cool view! Staff was friendly and helpful. Bed was comfy!

IrelandOne member of the party guaranteed the room with credit card and then was paid by another person in full when they checked in later in the day. Later in the month the room charge was taken again from the first card. Several emails to the hotel got no response. Tried phoning but no answer.

when booking you are told that a resort fee is mandatory. I did end up using the fee as the lounge is in an excellent location to view times square.

PortugalThe shower is old and has little pressure. Breakfast is expensive 30 usd per adult and 15 usd for children. We had a broken window, I complained and no one wanted to know.
Hotel located in the middle of Times Square. The rooms have a good size and are comfortable. We stayed on the upper floors and had no problems with the noise but I believe those who on lower floors may have this problem but how not to have it, we are in New York - Times Square. The dining room has a magnificent view of Times Square.
