Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

IcelandNo chair or table in the room, nowhere to sit except the bed and no work surface. The room was not cleaned or vacuumed during my 6 night stay and towels weren't replaced, I got two sets of towels for the 7 days I was there, which was enough for me but possibly not for everyone. Walls are thin and floors are creaky. Woke up multiple times during the night (well after midnight) by people arriving late as well as pretty elaborate sex noises from the rooms next to me. Vacuuming and cleaning noises in the morning if you wanted to make up for that, quiet, it is not. Luckily I was just there for a vacation and didn't really have a tight schedule, but if I'd had an early morning schedule every day this could have been highly annoying.
Room was clean but basic. Nice bed, good mattress and nice pillows. Bathroom and shower were solid. A fridge was provided which is fine for drinks and basics. WiFi was okay but with some occasional dropped connections. Water and coffee machine in the common room downstairs, free of charge.

United States of AmericaIt was a vintage hotel transformed into an airbnb. Rooms in the 1800s were small and stairs narrow and steep. Nothing to complain about but found the steep stairs a bit challenging!

United States of AmericaRoom 1b seemed like a converted utility closet. The door opens to a sink. Barely room to walk around the bed. No place to hang clothes, no chair, no desk. I guess I expected a more traditional room.

United States of AmericaYou could not enter the property before 3pm, even if your room was ready. Was told I would be notified if my room was going to be ready before check in, was not, but I arrived at 2:45… the woman cleaning did allow me to come inside and go to my room. Also, I was trying to leave for the evening and was not familiar with the locking mechanism for the door. I could not find out how to lock it. I called and emailed per the instructions multiple times, but since I had to leave, after 12 mins of waiting, I called the emergency number just to be able to talk to someone.

United States of AmericaAll transactions were done online. You have to docusign an agreement before they send you access codes to enter hotel and room. No physical person was available. I booked this room in 6 months ago. Didn’t read all the way through. Waited an hour and numerous calls to a help desk to access room. Room has minimal necessities.
Nice clean room with private bathroom. The Full size bed could use updating. Shared balconies were comfortable with nice view of canal. Walking distance to beach and Asbury Park. Coffee machine available 23/7. Fridge in our 2B room. No ice.

United States of AmericaParking, lack of local staff to ask a question to.
This was my first time to Ocean Grove. I did not know what to expect. There is no parking anywhere close by. I also needed assistance figuring out how to relock my room but there is no one around. The rooms are small but very clean. Tv worked ok if you like streaming. It was close to the beach & all other activities in town. Parking is free but I had to park several blocks away. It is not handicap accessible. I would stay again but might explore other places in town.

United States of AmericaThere was absolutely no where to PARK. We drove around for 45 minutes and then parked in Asbury Park and walked to The Melrose. I loved the room but probably would not stay here again because we couldn't walk back cause the gate to the bridge was locked at 1030. So we had to drive back and again find parking
