Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1–10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We're currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate "subscores" in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United States of AmericaParking costs. No restaurant, no bar (that I could see) no room service, NO COFFEE IN THE ROOM (this is huge). Bathroom lights wouldn't stay on. They were on a motion sensing switch, and no matter what you did they would turn off and turn back on. Street noises were loud (my room faced 10th). Sink was freestanding, outside the bathroom (with crappy lighting).
Close to the BART. Easy access from the freeway. Hotel staff was EXCEPTIONAL. Room was small (cozy) which was okay for what I needed,

United States of AmericaOur room was small, dark and stuffy, as it's an older hotel that's been renovated. Not much space to put clothes. The area is a problem, as crime is rampant now in downtown Oakland, especially car breakins. We had to pay $25/night to park in the Conference Center garage, next door, for security. I hadn't expected that extra expense. The desk clerk warned us to not stray too far, due to crime. We did walk to Le Cheval for an early dinner. (I used to go there a lot while working nearby, years ago.) And we walked to Jack London Square the next morning. There are some homeless encampments nearby. I didn't unsafe during the day, walking around the area. But it''s not safe at night.
We stayed here after flying into Oakland, as we were leaving for Monterey the next day. I used to work in the area, so thought it would be fun to stay there. The hotel is older, so has character. The beds were comfy and the AC/fan worked and was not too noisy. They provide breakfast. The staff were nice and helpful. I think the price for the hotel is fair, given the Bay Area is expensive in general.

United KingdomNo bottled water in room.
The Washington Inn, built in 1913, proudly receives guests in their 100 year old facility. Many of the original construction exists and has been well preserved. The room was comfortable, well cleaned and quiet. It felt safe and protected. In the morning. Breakfast was an array of any other hotel offerings. Yogurt, fruit cups, juice, cereal with milk, oatmeal, bagels, toast and jam! It was welcoming with delicious coffee! Water was the only thing o would have like to have in my room. I didn't notice the water option downstairs near the reception area until I was ready to leave! I'll choose the ole Washington Inn over the Marriott any day! Thanks staff!!

United States of AmericaAlthough the rooms were renovated, the rugs were in very bad shape, the lights in the room flickered, the clock was melted and unreadable, the continental breakfast was underwhelming, and the parking was inconvenient - with only 1 usable parking pass that had to be borrowed and returned after each use. Since I was unfamiliar with the area, I did not realize I should have chosen a more safe area.
The staff was really great. They did their best to provide great service.

The night staff, Sheila was slept down stairs on the couch. She allowed the homeless people to sleep on the couch. She also was sitting outside leaning on the window smoking cigarettes with another homeless man. MY room Was dusty
