Travel Gurus sharing their best tips

How does it work?

  • 1

    It starts with a booking

    It starts with a booking

The only way to leave a review is to first make a booking. That's how we know our reviews come from real guests who have stayed at the property.

  • 2

    Followed by a trip

    Followed by a trip

When guests stay at the property, they check out how quiet the room is, how friendly the staff is, and more.

  • And finally, a review

    And finally, a review

After their trip, guests tell us about their stay. We check for naughty words and verify the authenticity of all guest reviews before adding them to our site.

We appreciated being able to make hot tea (and coffee) in our room and the thoughtful beverages provided for us in the mini-fridge. The boxed breakfasts were pleasant treats each morning. Our room was quiet--we didn't hear other guests. We really liked the two-room suite. The bed was very comfortable, and we enjoyed sitting on the sofa in the other room either reading or watching TV after we came home from the theater. We were pleased to discover that we had the ability to use our Netflix on the TV.”

The owners, Roland and Ina, do everything personally. Guests are welcomed with a bottle of wine the first night. Every morning, they set out a full breakfast including coffee, fruit, cheese, yogurt, eggs, and breads. Guests can use the frig and kitchen as needed. There are a lot of restaurants and beaches close by. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming, and, of course, the pool and outdoor grounds are clothing-optional.”

Comfortable room and bed. Lighting was good. Staff was very nice and room was very clean. The breakfast area was clean, breakfast itself was minimal. Even though we were next to the elevator, there was no noise.

The restaurant and bar closed crazy early, and there were many, many customers disappointed. I've never seen a bar turn away for much business in favor of closing at 8 pm. It was one of the reasons I chose this hotel, and it was incredibly disappointing. The bartender was unpleasant and treated all of the customers as if we were a burden. I wouldn't go to this restaurant or bar again due to this unpleasant man.

The tub/shower was slippery and could use more than 1 bar for steadying yourself to get in and out. One of the beds was not very comfortable.

The plumbing is not to Code. Whenever you flush the toilet there is a loud gurgling sound emenating from the shower drain. I have experienced similar plumbing configurations in Mexico and Thailand, but did not expect such substandard and clearly non-Code construction in urban U.S. It made me think that the allegations that Providence for a very long time has been a corrupt town are in fact true----because a construction design like that cannot possibly pass inspection in any of the 50 states. The housekeeping staff is apparently trained to check whomever has put out a Do Not Disturb sign at 7 a.m. The front desk seemed to confirm that if the sign is on your doorknob at 7 a.m. when they check, you may not get any service that day regardless of the time you remove it to go out. I left the room and took off the sign 2 days in a row at 11:55 a.m. I was told that the cleaning staff leaves at 3 pm so that was probably not enough time for them to get back to the room. In other words, the system works for the management, not for the guest. Pretty bizzare and completely different from the hundreds of hotels I have stayed in all over the world. When I went to the front desk to complain, I did get service the next day, but a guest should not have to ask for something that you get literally everywhere else without asking.

Air was on 60 when we walked in the room. It felt like it was 80°. Called the front desk and they sent a maintenance guy and said it would be a half hour before he could change it out and fix it. It was 2am and I had been traveling 6 hours and we had to get up at 8am, so we suffered. Staff questioned me about my service dog, which, by law, they are not supposed to do. (I didn't mind showing my papers, but, they even asked me on the phone what my disability was. I was only there for a few hours, so the lady at the front desk said nor to worry about the papers. My service dog had her vest on). Room was not clean.
